Cruised to mexico for some runs. I got 2 runs in but no vids (no camera man). 5.0 was stock except exhaust, 1le was cai only. These 2 1le's ran well enjoy

There were 3 1le's. The black 1le was stock except cai and ran the stock 5.0. They ran 3 times and the 1le barely pulled a w on all 3 runs. They were clean runs and we all had a blast

I did run the white 1le that won 2 of the 3 (3rd was a tie). From a 35 roll to 130 he put a hair under a full car on me (clean run for both of us) i just didn't have a camera man as this was very last minute.
I ran a supposedly bone stock auto ls2 c6 with x pipe and muffler delete and put a full car on him from a dig but had to fight to hook up.

Sounds like a very very strong running 5G. I figured you would have beaten it. Seems 1LEs are the stronger running 5Gs for whatever reason.

The 1le cars ran damn well (2 white ones) but keep in mind were fbo and cammed. The one I ran had the largest (most aggressive) cam the ls3 can handle. I was impressed with my car only losing by just under a full car. The black stockish 1le was a good runner but barely beat the 5.0 (axleback only stock tune) by a fender. Mods on 1le's makes a world of difference.

The 6g I drove felt about as strong as my car when it was near FBO at 430 rwhp.
With h/c it didn't even feel like the same zip code. Butt dyno isn't always accurate but there's just no way period. I'd literally bet my soul my old car would freight train a stock 6g.
I like the 6g and want one but I'm surprised a strong cam 5g can't run away from it.

What gear was in your 5gen?

Hio with all due respect 5gs are not impressive. This is why I prefer a 5.br0 over one. On the other hand i am not too big of a man to say I have earned a new level of respect for a proper fbo cammed 1le. Yes those DO impress me although I personally prefer a s550 fbo over one.

I'm very impressed with the 6r80 auto and what it can handle but I agree with your sentiments regarding 6 speed manual Mustang owners and the mt82 and whatnot.
As far as cheap, the 5.0 started out a bit cheaper than 5G and 6G and has been depreciating a bit faster as well. One can pick up a first year Br0 for teens now

If someone asked me what 5gen to buy to do bolt ons to for the best acceleration it would not be a 1le. If someone asked me what the funnest affordable pony car would be to play with and drive ever it would be a 1le. Seemingly similar but there are pieces there that would get changed off the 1le so no use in paying for that package. Not to mention the trans gearing of a regular 5gen would benefit acceleration more on the end product.
