Default 5.br0 vs Audi 200 and blown Challenger

30-140ish Audi 200. Built 5 cylinder 2 valve, 3x psi, non intercooled with pre/post turbo meth. Unsure of turbo. I had a passenger, he did not.

Also raced a 13? Challenger RT m6 with a procharger. Not on film as no passengers in race. Made 585 whp. First run 40-125 he got me by a car, second run was dead even.

Turbo is a S257 SX-E. 3480 raceweight. Don't know why it would get interesting. It is what it is.

IATs were in the mid 120's at 32psi that night. It's a custom setup I made with a few different meth kit brands (aquamist high speed solenoid, coolingmist pump, coolingmist nozzles) all controlled via standalone. No signs of det when reading the plugs or in the logs, and the temps aren't unreasonably high at thay boost level.

S257SXE is a solid turbo. Crazy you are beating that Audi on 30+psi. That turbo on over 30psi with a optimal setup should be in the 500whp range.

But I have a 3 mod bro....

All joking aside, its a 2 valve car and I'm pretty sure the heads flow less than 200cfm so that may have something to do with it. The owner said 500whp is possible but I think it would need closer to 50psi for that.

I been on the meth and NO intercooler bandwagon for years. In every instance I've picked up boost and power with lower IAT's than with the intercooler. Good job. Can't say it's a pretty car, but it seems to run good.

I'm a tube manifold away from 500whp. The backpressure is a bit out of hand on the stock location cast manifold. The 4v inline 5 guys have made 600whp running this turbo at the same boost. I have the means to make the manifold, I just didn't want to have the car off the road for two seasons. It'll be on a different manifold and intercooled come spring time. The meth system is great up to a point, but it is never consistent. The IATs were OK in the time I drove it, but never an 80 degree summer night like 90% of the racing season.

In summary, the car got me to 80% of where I wanted it to be. It was fun trolling suby bros for a while with it, but that got old fast.

Can you do a 4v head swap on a 2v 5cyl? I'm am not knowledgeable with the older audi's. Also what have you done to the bottom end? and any pic's of the car?

You can, but the chamber volume is larger on the 4V so it would take it from 9:1 to about 6.8:1

Bottom end is JE pistons and crower billet I beam rods.

I don't have any pictures loaded up on my photobucket, but the car looks like any other 1989 Audi 200.

Definitely looked to be a solid car, performance-wise. But no kidding. Reminds me of the old box volvos. I don't know how some people can like even looking at them.

Yea I was being conservative with the 500whp. Turbo flows 65ppm. I had it running 28psi on e85 with my srt4 and it hauled ***. Buddy with a blown 9 second T/A was shocked. Now I have a S300SXE. 62mm compressor version. A little more lag but this engine loves to rev to 7500. Full smack/boost by 5k. Car will read boost in any gear at any rpm.

What was the difference in lag? In 3rd I would see 30psi by 4200. I'm considering going 62mm, but I need 3000rpm of meat for it to work with the gearing.
