Default Racing a c5 z06 saturday night--Place your bets

EDIT: Video on Page 2

I'm lining up with a c5 z06 2004(405 hp) <3100lbs tomorrow night. Mostly stock with an intake and clutch I believe. These are 117mph cars stock in the 1/4 mile. They move out pretty well.

My car is making 420whp at 16psi(hoping to get it to 18-19psi by tomorrow night) so figure 450? I think I should be in the 117mph ballpark, but no way to know for sure. I know the pumpgas record for my setup in the qtr mile trap is around 125.Xmph but thats with way more boost and timing than what I'm running. I'm not shooting for records anyways...I'll be happy if I can get 120-121 out of it and keep up with similarly powered cars...but thats a different discussion altogether.

Were going from a 35 roll 2nd gear and a 3rd gear 50-55mph roll. No dig runs cause he already has a hard time hooking from a roll.

Place your guesses and by saturday night I should have a nice edited video....

Last weeks run can be found here: https://ls1tech.com/forums/street-ra...gt-vr-4-a.html

He shouldn't have a hard time hooking up from a roll with a stock Z

Why would he do a 2nd ger roll at 35 and 3rd gear at 50-55? Lol... what a moron....

That will put him at about 2.5-3k rpms at the start of the run.... lol...

Sounds like you will be winning by default, based on inexperience by the vette owner....

50 is a good spot for a z in 2nd, not 3rd.

I was just basing the MPH off what I've been doing for years and what I normally see in videos. I wouldn't mind going from a 40 if that makes it a more competitive race..

I will be in 3rd for the 50-55 pull..I know the vettes have a much different gear ratio than my car..should be exciting!!

There is a couple of ways you guys can have a "fair race". Either both of you agree on a speed or each one gets one race in their desired speed.

What are you good speed ranges in 2nd?

FYI, even a near stock c5z can spin the tires in 1st and 2nd (if they are sporting crappy street tires and depending on road surface).

From a 35 roll for me, ill be in 2nd gear around 3400 rpms and my redline is 7000..though I can rev it out to 8000 if needed but boost tapers off near redline. I hit full boost at 4300 and boost starts coming hard around 3500-3600 rpms for me. Obviously ill be brake boosting to load it up a bit more.

35 to what? I asked what range... like 35-45 in 2nd? Is that good for you?

Sounds like you guys just have very different gearing... c5z good ranges are 27ish-37ish in 1st, 50-60 in 2nd, 75-85 in 3rd.

I could pull off a 45mph roll as well from 2nd but that would put me right in my boost target area. We'll probably run upto 120ish im guessing which would be 4th gear for me(I have 6 also)

Anything over a 50 roll is a bad spot for a c5z. Too high into 2nd.

Maybe you guys can do a 45 roll (both in 2nd)... sounds like a decent speed for both.

This is hilarious. Zyborg going apeshit over this gearing conundrum. If were going to give the C5z the perfect gear, we should get the VR4 a turbo that doesn't crap out up top. Just let them race. I got money on the turbo car.
