This doesn't seem right??

My buddy and I were out in his 94 formula TA, it's got 140k miles on the LT1 and 4l60e. Mods are a Jegs drag pack (555r in the rear), shift kit & trans cooler. It also has stock 2.73 gears (Jake lyfe). We have exhaust and a CAI in the garage that we haven't put on yet. But we ended up next to a 2015 charger R/T and pulled a good car and a half from a dig, til about 85mph. I fully expected to lose, what happened??

I beat R/Ts in my Genesis if that tells you anything. That was even before my tune on heavy ass 20s

RedFuryZ28 Feb 20, 2017 04:51 PM

Those things are turds. Why are you so surprised? I'd expect a bolt on LT1 on DR's to win by more, especially from a dig. And it's cute how I'm always on your mind.

I thought they got faster after 2014. Aren't the 2015+ ones doing low 13's high 12's?

Nick.H Feb 20, 2017 04:56 PM

And I wouldn't exactly call a Drag pack and shift kit car a "bolt on" car

Mid 13's@104 IIRC. Big car is hard to launch, that would be my guess.

r/t are slow AF

So what would you call it? Bone ass stock? And do those mods not bolt on?

RedFuryZ28 Feb 20, 2017 05:04 PM

And you raced a 4,300 lb car with stock ls1 power. Yep, sounds like high 12s to me!

Nick.H Feb 20, 2017 06:05 PM

Maybe I'm thinking of the challengers, the srt model

HioSSilver Feb 20, 2017 06:10 PM

Lt cars are fully capable of running into the 13s stock or nearly stock in good running order. No doubt it can have a good race with the car you guys ran.

Birdracing Feb 20, 2017 07:07 PM

My 94 is after surprising a few Challenger RT's mods are in my sig.

Since when did an LS1 make 370/390?

You're really going to argue over 20bhp? And I've read that the 01-02 fbodies had 370 to the crank, with the ls6 intake. I'm sure the SLP cars have that as well. I also doubt those chargers make anymore than 315-320rwhp, like a lot of bone stock M6 LS1's dyno.

20hp and 40ftlbs, yeah, I'm going to argue that. They put down 330-340 on average with hero cars putting down 350RWP. The challengers with the manual is even stronger, some of the hero cars are at 360RWP. It's a good motor, just got put in a porker of a car.

Not surprised at all.

Remember when I said RTs ran in the 14s and could MAYBE touch into the 13s and everyone came down on me about how that was bullshit and how they run in the 12s (ROFL)...

They're heavy. No.... They're fucking massive is the correct phrase. I'm not surprised at the outcome.

RedFuryZ28 Feb 21, 2017 09:33 AM

Yeah they weigh nearly 1,000 pounds more than an ls1 fbody. With not much more power. Basically ls2 power in a car that's 600 pounds heavier than a GTO. I'd say high 13s would be good for them.

R6cowboy Feb 21, 2017 09:44 AM

A good working order LT1 T/A with a drag pack out running a stock '15 Charger RT is no surprise. Both cars bone stock could likely be a dead even race. They're nice and all, but Dodge boat anchors run like boat anchors.

That_One_Person Feb 21, 2017 09:58 AM

"Raced" my best friend's 2014 AWD Charger R/T. It wasn't very pretty for him.
