2. that v8 made 507hp and had a black version with 622hp.
3. mercedes is a superior engine development company to chevrolet because it has many F1 championships to Gm's ZERO.
4. chevrolet wil not outclass a mercedes 6.2 liter dohc v8 in a production line 6.2 liter dohc v8.
5. therefore chevrolet will not make more than 550hp. imo.
6. of course mercedes doesnt make a 6.2 liter f1 engine..nobody does. the current batch of v6 turbo f1 engines are a shadow of the former v10 and v12 glory days.
7. your "hand of God" ls7 v8 is not going to be beaten in hp by a 6.2 liter chevrolet engine of any type.
Just as interesting as the LS7's specifi-cations is its assembly process at the new GM Performance Build Center (PBC), in the industrial 'burbs of Detroit. A single technician builds each engine by hand. It's a process that marches 180 degrees away from GM's typical mass-production methods.
The plant began building engines in 2005 for the 2006 model year. The products at that time were the 7.0L LS7 for the Corvette Z06 and the 4.4L Supercharged Northstar (LC3) for the STSV and XLRV. The LS7 launched with 505 horsepower and the LC3 with 469 horsepower in the STSV and 443 horsepower in the XLRV. The LC3 was discontinued after the 2009 model year due to market conditions.
The PBC currently builds the 6.2L LS3 V8 for the Grand Sport Coupe manual version, the 7.0L LS7 V8 for the Z06 and the 6.2L Supercharged LS9 for the Corvette ZR1.

Almost 3400 engines for 1 yr is quite the production. Not far off what furd built in several yrs of fgt production from 04-06.
As i said....if gm builds a 6.2 dohc it wont be stuck in the 400hp range like the 5br0 is. So it will justify itself.
It will easily make more than a ls7. A 11 yr old engine furd still can't match.

Maybe Chevy can match the beautiful Mercedes 6.2 heads. Maybe not. Maybe just copy them. I don't care either way. If a pushrod LS is so incredible in the fashion you espouse constantly, you jump onto the dohc bandwagon in a hurry.
A 600hp 6.2 liter dohc will be prohibitively expensive. Ford, Chevy, BMW, Porsche, nissan, can do it. I'm a fan of Corvettes just like any sensible car guy is. If you just look back on my comments in the car news section pertaining to a mid engines Vette in a thread I started you would see how I feel about the matter.
You chose to lump me into a group of nutswinging mustang fans, and I took that opportunity to troll you.
The only mustang I really like is a certain purple 66 289 hi-po I rode in as a 19 year old kid my squad leader owned in the military.
That car shake rattled and rolled. My 96 turbo has that feel to it. I ******* hate my 2011 coyote. The engine makes decent power for what it is. But what else does it do well?
Nothing. It's heavy. The trans is junk. It has no feel to it. It's heavy. No soul. It's big. It's like sitting in any generic car. .......

When I sit in my 96 it's like being in a cockpit. I strap the car on. It sits low without being lowered. Its crazy light without touching the interior. I hear everything. I feel everything. The mach460 sound system is Crystal clear at max volume. It has a factory sub. It feels like a 66 fastback. No air. No power brakes. No power steering.

I am expecting the mid engine corvette to be a special model. I don't see GM going mid engine on everything and raising the price substantially on the corvette.
So if it is a mid engine special model comparable to say a ford GT. It could very well have a 600+ hp motor. more $ to work with

There is no racing history of a mid engines Vette. There IS however a racing history of a mid engined Chevy sports car....

Hey I've never said anything about not liking dohc. It has it's advantages......but it's not being realized by what's available to us right now. The 5br0 makes 435 hp....the lt makes more . The 5.2 makes 526.....but in reality gets out powered by the lt and ls7 according to it's acceleration. So push rods have did there job. With furd being stuck in the 5litre area and having a small bore on top of that there is lots of rolm for gm to make way more power.
550 will be cake. Hell i bet a ls7 redone in the lt family would make that with push rods.
Yea man .....chapperels are cool. Used to love watching them at sebring. No reason they couldn't do a reasonable priced mid engine car.
