Looks like a clean car, stick to just intake and exhaust to start with.

Since it is a '93 I assume it is speed density, those are harder to tune...

You would be correct. They say it's easier to tune the LT speed density, but basically no one is in the LT1 chip burning game any more. Heck, really no one tunes LT1 cars any more, better to go EFI 24x and get the LS1 PCM.

Intake doesn't get jack from what I understand, but LT headers are good for 25-30HP. One problem that he is going to run into is the fact that no one really makes parts for these cars any more. For example, LT headers are $1300.

This was one reason that I bounced mine. Even basic restoration type stuff is hard to find, catalogs are the only option and they are proud of their ****.

1.6 rockers with springs work nice. I find a 52 tb port matched works decent on those too

Pretty much my reaction as well. You better have a nice fat wallet to mod a C4.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/OBX-Exhaust-...-/172064165538

Stainless steel headers with off road pipes for $496.32. I bought the same ones several years ago and have had no issues. The clamps they sent were junk though, had to buy decent ones. Performance parts are not too expensive for C4 LT1s. It's the replacement interior and vanity items that will drain the bank account.

Your friend can come close to running with you with minimal effort. Each cast iron manifold and cat on his LT1 weighs 35lbs. That is 70lbs he can chuck for a pair of 10lb headers. That's a 50lb savings and 25-30 hp. Tell him to junk the spare tire, jack and cover assembly. That will save him 32lbs. He could go with a cheap cat back or muffler elims and save at least another 20lbs from the stock resonator and mufflers.

And some free weight savings. Passenger seat w/power seat track weighs 29lbs and can be removed in 5 minutes. LT1 corvettes have a 20 gallon gas tank. Why, I have no idea. If he go's out with a half of a tank, he saves 67lbs.

To sum up, he can shed just about 200lbs and gain 30-40hp. And do it for under $1k. If he were to get some gears and a high stall converter, you will have your hands full.

For a true cold air intake, you can buy one of these: http://www.yatesperformance.com/cv01...FUtYDQodpxAJeQ

Then, cut a large enough square in the radiator shroud so all three filters are exposed. I did this and picked up on average 2.2 mph in the quarter. You will get the cool ambient air and a ram air effect from the mod. Even driving around during the summer, with the engine smoking hot, the SLP will be cool to the touch. The filters will get dirtier then usual, but they clean easy.
