I've just been in arguments lately with some of the EXPERTS on this site, saying that no stalled h/c ls1 can dyno over about 440whp. Also that stalled autos give 100% accurate readings on the dyno, when the converter is unlocked.
Gotcha. Yeah I've seen some crazy dyno numbers all over the map that don't add up to what the car does on the street or track. Seems like more people these days care what their car will dyno more than anything lol

For sure. What were the mods on your friend's car?

PRC 5.3 heads, MS4 cam, ported Fast 102, Speed Enginering 1 3/4" headers and ORY, 4000 stall with 3.73's. Probably a few other small bolt ons, but I'm pretty sure that 480 rwhp was a far stretch lol. I'm not sure about you, but when it comes to stalled auto setups I see numbers all over the place....high and low. Sometimes high hp and really low tq, other times the opposite. Combine that with dynos running all over the place anyways, that's why I could give a damn about the numbers lol. Know what I mean?

Hell if your car didnt run 11.50s I'd burn it.

Any Joe Schmoe can run 12.30-12.40s@114 in a stock 6th gen on stock tires. I've done it myself in my wife's 16' SS.

You should have no problem on the roll race either as long as your converter is efficient. If its a big ole sloppy one with 600 rpm shift extensions, you may be surprised at what happens on the roll..

However the A8 dies at 125 mph/5th..
Would 20% slippage count as sloppy?

Yeah I know exactly what you mean lol. A lot of people on here don't understand why a stalled auto will dyno a lot lower with the converter unlocked though.

My cam/FBO '02 SS is faster than my '17 SS.

I don't think it'll be close.

Yeah thats pretty sloppy....Not too bad for the 1/8, but pretty freakin loose for the 1/4. Probably gonna suck for rolls once in high gear.

Yeah, I agree, this shouldnt be this much of a mystery...

On paper, a stock 6th gen goes 114 mph on average and a cam only 4th gen will trap that or more at full weight. A head cam car should go 118-120 pretty easy at full weight. This is simple math.

However I have seen a ton of "head/cam" cars not run anywhere near what they should....so nothing surprises me these days.

Hell just last weekend I watched a 16' SS Camaro M7 go 12.teen@116. He was CAI only but had some 17" drag radials on the rear and could drive pretty decent. That was in +2200' DA at that.

Some of them just give you **** because you say you know for sure your car makes 470whp, yet its never been on a dyno. Stuff like that. I had my C5 m6 on three different dynos, had a 30whp difference between the lowest and highest. So I'm sure its possible your ride could see 470whp on a dyno or 440whp or whatever on another dyno.

Ahhhhh that is such a pet peeve of mine. All these people swing their dyno numbers around like that makes their car better or badder than someone else's. I beat cars all the time with that dyno higher than mine. Sometimes wayyyy more. I would much rather have a car that dyno'ed lower but ran better on the street and track but it doesn't seem that way with a lot of people these days. Ok I'll shut up now

Yep you got it, and I totally agree. People can bench race all they want, and you can even factor in weight, trans, gearing, driver mod, etc...along with the dyno number, and still come out on top even when you were supposed to lose. Been there and done that as well lol

I can agree. Most do things fucked up. One thing we do know is both are very much capable of outrunning your gt100.

I think it could be close. With mods the 6fen is very much capable of winning even against good h/c ls cars.

3500? When did fcars get there with mods?

Either way faster than your gt100 with stock blower and that pos 4.suck mach you built.

He does. He's that much of a idiot.
