Default My buddy bought a 2013 CTS-V sedan...

It wasn't a kill, but it was a really good run. This was in my 2016 Charger RT 392 Scat Pack, btw. I sold the GTO years ago.

One of my oldest friends bought a stock 2013 Cadillac CTS-V sedan with only 11,000 miles on it. He brought it over last week and let me drive it. It's a very nice car and feels pretty quick. It's very different though because you really don't hear the exhaust from inside the car. You goose it and the car goes but there's not a lot of sound with it like in my car...more like a "whoosh". Those 556 supercharged horsepower felt pretty strong. I told him we'll have to run them sometime even though I think he'll roast me. So today he texts me..."you ready?" I said "be right over."

First run was from a 20 roll...we hit it and are neck and neck to about 90mph and he starts just inching ahead. We let off at around 110 (truck in my lane ahead) and he is just maybe a quarter car in front. We tried to line up and go from a dig next, but I spun in first gear and he hooked pretty good and walked away from me to about 110 or 120. We didn't want to push our luck anymore and called it a day.

Anyway, he and I were both surprised at how close it was. From a roll the scat pack can hang right with the CTS-V...he started pulling very slowly up top, but not nearly what I thought it would be. If I could hook from a dig it would be a close race, but I need a lot more tire than I have. It was a lot of fun though and makes me feel even better about my decision to buy a scat pack. I think it's the best bang for the buck...especially in a 4-door sedan.

Honestly not surprised by the results.

Obviously the longer the race panned out, the higher trapping car (the V2) should have pulled away more.

Yeah, honestly going into it I thought he would put 2 or 3 cars on me by 110 or 120, but I was hanging right with him. Literally we were side by side from 20 to 100. I have a dashcam but you don't even see him until I hit the brakes. He was just barely starting to pull me up top. I'll have to get him to play again out on a lonely patch of freeway so we can really see how he pulls at speed.

Nice runs! What does that Caddy weigh? Yours is right around 4200 lbs isn't it?

I think mine is more like 4300 or 4400 lbs. Not sure what the caddy weighs but I'm guessing it's around 4300 give or take a few. Very comparable I think.

Not surprising at all. That 392 is an impressive motor.

Obviously as the race went on, he was going to continue to stretch the distance but it sounds like it was a good one!

Not surprising. Both should trap in the 117ish range and I'd see the V2 inching the 392 out on the top end.

Never heard of a stock 392 trapping 117

Raced with a guy locally plenty of times. 2015 a8 challenger. Green. pretty sweet car

With DR, air filter removed, hellcat airbox mod, tazer with adjusted shift points and some vp 109 in the tank he trapped 115 in -500 DA at Milan. He trapped as low as 112 mid summer.

they 60 ft slightly harder than a 6g (more aggressive gearing) but I was consistently ~2 mph faster than him with about the same amount of mods at this time last year.

Or maybe lower Michigan traps low even in -500 da...

I’ve seen a stock 392 a8 trap 113 the same day a stock 6g a8 trapped 112

They are a pretty close driver’s race usually with edge to the 6g.

He probably used the paddles and slowed himself down.

Yeah they are really close stock. I pulled him every time after the 1/8 though. slowly.

Hero traps favor the 6g by at least 2mph as well according to internets lol

For now. Gonna be interesting soon

IDK why but seen so many videos on youtube people using the damn paddles racing. Its fun and all. and may be of benefit holding a gear on a road course. but when drag racing its just stupid. best case scenario you will only go slightly slower lol

Mine goes faster manually shifting it without the paddles. It does not rev out the gears high enough letting the computer do the work. I am 2-3 tenths quicker compared to launch control which shifts 1-2 @ 5500 rpm.

I was slower at the track every time. maybe with the shifter it would be better. paddles make it next to impossible to properly time a shift. too much delay

Now that ive got all my shift points set theres really no need now. but yeah they do shift 1-2 early when stock. I never noticed personally but people who logged it claimed just what you said

Do you have a slip showing with and without launch control?
