Really depends on how proper your setup ends up being. GTR is going to be no joke and you really cant **** up driving it.

Yes, I drive a rental car and have no shame in bashing it myself. It's a fun to drive, cheap ***, plastic interior having, wrong wheel drive, turbo car with 4 doors.

I actually know what you meant. Was just poking some fun. It's extremely funny for you to call me Ignorant! LMAO!!!! Thats Great!
Now back to your Commodore 64 in Mommy's Basement. Don't forget the Doritios!

Those GTRs are way too consistent and easy to race. Good luck!!

Yeah those GTR's are extremely consistent from what I've seen as well. At the track a bone stock 2014 was running several 11.1-11.2 at 120-121 every single time. I actually ran him on freeway back home and it was basically dead even from like 50-120. Of course I wasn't spraying though

Shouldn't even be a race???
3rd gens are tin cans, and even the worst built LT1 383 will be at least 500hp with that cam and even entry level heads. More likely 550. Add a 200 shot, a stalled auto, and drag suspension and he is most likely comfortably in the mid to high 9s. An I/E/chip only GTR won't have a chance(620hp or so?).
We are talking 700-800lbs lighter car with ~100 more hp in a drag prepped stalled auto. I know we like to make fun of third gens since their stock motors are trash, but the platform makes for a GREAT drag car. Extremely light and massive aftermarket available.
Of course dialing in a 200 shot on a car that light won't be a one day thing, so it may take a few trips of practice to get the nitrous to ramp in effectively to run the times it should. I would NEVER race someone on a brand new combo if its a race for money or that you really want to win.

^ You are Def a bit Optimistic on the power levels of the LT1. I've owned a couple of them. 550HP easy? Not really! And yes, some thirdgens are tin cans. I'm sure the ones in your Neighborhood are anyway. But a nice 88-92 car, in the right shape is not. L98 SBC's can make great platfoms for strokers or just a 30 over with the right H/C/I ect, Has limitless potential. Like any other 350ci SBC. You are right about it being a lighter, better drag platform. Aftermarket is HUGE these days for them. Especially chassis components. But on the other hand, this 84 Camaro most likely is a tin can. On stock old worn out suspension. If he cant dial in the car correctly. The GTR will easliy out launch him, and he will never catch up. Or, the OP's car can be a beast! And Perfectly tuned and dialed in. And a really nice car. In that case, I still think a 9sec et would be a stretch!
All this is IMHO Only!!!!!!!!!!!!!
