True statement here. The GT mustang was cheaper according to car and driver but the F-body was the faster car in the 1/4 mile.

In this thread, I learned that cubes aren't important for NA builds.

I would like to run one of these NA coyotes. The last one i raced at mid Michigan had a supercharger on it, and he thought I was spraying when he got beat.

The Mustang actually despite being slower was probably better for most consumers. Most people thought of the 4th gen as a updated third gen. The heavy doors, huge dash, have the motor being under the cowl and that damn hump on the passenger side floor turned people off.Plus GM didn't promote it. In terms of being faster most non car people thought the Mustang GT was faster than the SS/Z28 just by the exhaust tone. Have to say even a 2 valve with full exhaust sounds mean as hell.

I've grown to like the sound of mustangs with an ORH and some decent mufflers after that. Price killed the Camaro once and it'll probably do it again. Average consumer doesn't care if something can get in the 11's without mods/many mods.

I like my Mustang but I thought my 2001 Z28 was damn baddass. Looked great and beat up on quite a few people with that car. F-Bodys are still a kickass car...imo

Price didn't kill the camaro. It had a base price of about 21k back then.

What killed it was gm wanting out of the contract of having to build it in canada.

When it debuted it was a great buy(4th gen) for the money(V8) version. Compared to the 93 Fox it had more power, abs, air bags and better brakes. Compared to the 94 it had way more power. And depending on options was cheaper. The 98 just crushed the competition including the Cobra but GM didn't promote it. And most people though it was just a mild facelift. Not much then could outrun it at any price.
