Be on the lookout for the "baby-GTR"....

Not sure how many of you have had a run in with the 2016+ Q50 and Q60s, but they're getting a rep as the "baby GTR". They're not like the 2015 or earlier models as they come with a twin turbo 3.0L. The AWD models are hitting 0-60 times in the high 3's/low 4's and with boltons they will make 400-450whp and 450-500 ftlbs. I have a RWD model that went 12.6@112 with throttle cut at the track. Did a roll and dig run against my LS6 swapped Z28 with a small cam. 40-100 the Z28 put ~1/2-1 car on the Q50 with traction issues. From a dig, the Q50 pulled 1-1.5 cars on the Z28. Be on the lookout, they don't mess around on the street, especially from a dig.

Good to know. Sounds like the Camaro needs a better stall lol.

it's a stick and was already spinning 315s. Stalled auto would have been a disaster lol.

Before I rebuilt my car into a 427 stroker, I had just the 480 BHP LS3 crate motor, buuuuuuttttt, I also had a Yank 4k stall. Ran a LS7 Z06 from a dig and MURDERED him. It was glorious. Sometime later, I ran into another Z06 and went from a 40 roll. That time I didn't do so well. The advantage I had was purely that stall, since they had me on hp and weight.

I also just LOVE the look you get from randoms next to you at the light when you start mashing the gas down and not moving. LOL.

I had a q50 redsport 400 and it was one of the funnest street light to street light cars Ive ever had or rode in,

I continue to be amazed at A) how fast they are from a dig/low roll and B) how well they respond to mods.

I have 285 555 nittos on there for the street. He had a manual, so the advantage was solidly in my favor. If that race had gone on any longer, there is no doubt that he would have ran me down and then some. That setup was putting down 430 whp with a few bolt ons. It was short lived as the next light was red, so I barely made it to 100, also trying to ignore my wife yelling "The light is RED!!!".... yeah yeah, I see it... lol. But that was a fun race. He pulled up next to me and said he needed betters tires. lol.

I don't see many Red Sports around but anything AWD with decent power light to light is a win, makes for a great daily. I see tons of VW and Audi's that are now solid 10-11 second machines with tune/basic mods and will hook in the rain.

the scary part is even the premium or silver sport will make more power than a red sport with a tune.

Yup even a little Golf R with a tune makes over 400tq, RS3 is over 500 I think. Power is super easy these days.

Only car I would really worry about is the rs3 or 4 the Q50 or 60 isn’t nothing to worry about if it’s still running mid 12s lol

couple points. Mine ran a mid 12 with an open diff and a throttle cut and it's not even an AWD model. Now running an LSD and a meth kit. People are doing 0 to 60 in the mid 3s so from a dig, so yes you'll have your hands full. Keep it to a higher roll and I agree domestics have the edge.

Meh still not worried I hit 3.3-3.5 on the street with my dr and that was before lightweight brakes . Granted they are cool cars and I would rock one forsure it’s just that’s all they good for is red light races . And what does a fbo one trap 115-120 ?

I wouldn't exactly call your Camaro the typical fbody on here so, sure, you on drag radials don't have to worry about much....plenty of other domestics do looking at the bolt on 6th gen and 5.0 lists.

i'm not either. On shitty nankang 245 wide tires, my neutered setting runs 11.5 @ 123mph. but yea, theres some pretty quick new cars roaming the streets. Its exciting and depressing at the same time.

yes I am aware, I still call them fbodys even though it's technically not. Comparing extreme examples ( boosted grow and FBO weight dropped 6th gens) was not exactly what I was going for when I said watch out. I was comparing them to the average Joe who's got intake exhaust or a cam etc.
