'96-'98 were the worst 3 years, ever, for performance for Mustang GT's I've read. It pretty much shows, too.

The 98 V6 Camaro was in all seriousness, not that much slower that the GT. I think a M5 was possibly faster than the Convertible Auto GT.

A Mustang GT should worry about keeping up with a Camaro or Firebird, rather then the Corvette.
Yes, because corvettes are so much faster than f-bodies

Stock C5 vettes run high 12's, low 13's and trap at like 108.
No, THEY don't. A FEW run high 12's, most are mid 13's.

correct me if im wrong... but i think the 99 and newer m5 v6 stangs run damn close to the same times as the 97-98 GT. Man if i bought a GT in 98, then found out the 99 v6's were just as fast... id be pissed haha

Hate to bring this back up, but the guy told me he was going to the track tonight.

It's 1000ft and he swears he will run mid 10's. I told him to bring me a time slip on Monday and I'll shut up. He is sooo confident that he'll meet the challenge.

What do you think? Mid 10's in the 1000 with the 97 GT listed above?

Yeah, I didn't think so either.

I ran 13.774 in my 98 GT with an X-Pipe, Mufflers, and a Filter, this was with 3.27 gears and a 1.89 60ft on Nitto Drag Radials, but this is FAR from the norm, you should kill him eitherway.

So currenty you ran a best of 13.4 with your basically stock 01 Gt Motor? I find that hard to believe. You must be John Force when you get behind the steering wheel.

I think he ran a 13.7 and has a 2001 GT engine in it. With a 60 footer like that, I could see one of those getting one of those.

Looks to me he ran the 13.7 with the regular 98 motor and according to his sig, with an 01 Gt motor went 13.4.

It doesn't matter if he, or anyone else with a 2V, is running that 13.4, look at the MPH. It's horrible compared to a LS1.

Talking

A ZO6 will beat those Mustang GTs driving in Reverse!!

..01-02 Mustang GTs [rated at 260HP] [most, not all ofcourse] didn't even come close against my 99 Grand Prix GTX [rated 240 HP GTP, 260 HP GTX] [FWD, Auto, V6, Blown with smaller S/C pulley, Rockers, PCM, and Exhaust] .. 98s were a joke!! [again, most of'em] Hell, the GTX would hold or lead LS1s upto 60-65 mph [crazy torque] and then get raped

This besides the point but the new Chevy Hi Performance mag has an article in it where they tested a bone stock Z06 at the track...it said in the article as well as the cover we run 11.97 in our stock Z06. I thought that pretty impressive, I have played with Z06's on the highway but I couldn't hang on for long. No way a mustang could even with full bolt ons. And to answer someone else, I'll have to find it to be sure but the 98 GT dynoed 190 to the rear.
