Killed an '02+ Z06 for you guys
I don't post too many of my races, but I have some time to kill so...
About an hour ago, I was on the way to a business meeting. I was (still am) wearing my normal work attire...dress shoes, pants, shirt, tie. You get the picture. A silver Z06 entered the highway a car or two behind me. They never want to play so I paid him no mind. He passed me somewhat aggressively and I saw that he was a younger guy...probably my age...28 or so. I got up next to him after snaking my way through traffic a bit. I pointed forward asking if he wanted to run. He gave me the "sure" look. I think he was ready to hit it until I motioned for him to slow down a little.
We settled around a 50mph roll. I motioned forward with my finger telling him to go. He hit it and pulled a car as I casually rev matched and found 2nd gear. I spun pretty badly but started pulling as it hooked. I was on his bumper by the end of 2nd. I powershifted to 3rd and pulled even with him. Powershifted to 4th and put a couple cars on him. Not sure how many, maybe 2,3,4? I didn't really look in the mirror since there was some traffic ahead. I slowed down and we both gave a thumbs up as we looked out the window.
He seemed impressed by my car, almost shocked that he lost. It was refreshing to see a younger guy driving a Z06 and racing it. Fun race. Cool guy. Two fine American muscle cars. Can't beat it boys...
My raceweight was around 4,000lbs at the time. Oh, and this was without nitrous. I wanted to give him a sporting chance. I'm not sure if he had any mods other than a catback. Damn I love those cars. If only I could shave off 1,000lbs.

I only did that because I can just picture this guy looking over and seeing me in a shirt and tie then wanting to race. He probably thought WTF?

Weight does make such a difference on how a car handles and just feels on the road. I had the opportunity to drive a H/C/P1SC/Forged motor Z06 on Saturday, and while I would love to hijack this biach and go into detail, with respect to Unit, just suffice to say it was quite an experiance. Car made 540 rwhp on our dyno. Good race. I can imagine being in a Z06, he isnt used to loosing too often. If he knows his cars, he should be able to figure out what happened easy enough.

My buddy has a H/C M6 LS1 C5 that I want to run. I'm sure I'll take it, but it'll still be fun.

Nice kill Unit. The age thing with Corvettes is funny. Dad is 44 and has a C4, but, two guys I work with I know have to be over 50, one had a C4 and the other has a Z06. The one with Z06, busted my ***** one day, he was just messing around though. Quite cool to see someone that could be your granddad bangin through the gears.
