Default There is a 04 Cobra asking his tuner why??

Not a kill, but had a chance to run a quoted 500 hp Cobra the other night. 3rd gear pull and he couldn't shake me, I think I was actually pulling slowly away. At the next light, he was pissed. I told him I was running a stock LS1/6 and he was really pissed then. I think the quote was "yea, right". Not sure why I could stay up with him, but I'll take it.

First real race with the 1978 vette LS1 conversion. I'm definely sold on the motor

Why did you wasted such a good motor(LS1)on a 78 corvette- uglies vette ever made. Sorry

I'd be having a looooooooooooooooooooooooong talk with my tuner also if I lost to a stock LS1/6. And i do mean LONG. You also say "quoted", well, I think that he was most likely stock and couldn't drive, or modded and REALLY couldn't drive. And yes, I DO OWN a Cobra.

If I recall, your gen. vette is pretty heavy compared to the C5's, and even the C4's, correct? (I might be incorrect, but I'm pretty sure they are right around 3600 pounds), meaning your car would run the same as a normal T/A or Z/WS6/SS, whatever. Low 13's most likely. The cobra "should" be able to crush that, STOCK. Just a forewarning for when you actually run into a cobra with a driver that has a clue

Good kill, but there's definitely something wrong with the driver or the Cobra.

well there are plenty of cobras out there with a lot of horsepower and slow *** drivers. bottom line, if your cobra has 500rwhp and you are slow driving it then i guess you are still a mid 13 second car.

He is the one that said he had 500 hp and he could beat Vipers. This was not a young punk, probably in his early 30's. As far as driving skills, it was a 3rd gear pull, so other than smashing the gas there is not skill there. If we were starting from 1st or 2nd, I could see the need of skill. What are those car stock, something like 390hp.

The vette is weight reduced to around 3000 pounds and geared. I just got it on the road, so no times or dyno yet. Easily a 12 second car though with slicks. Thanks for the warning. I have lost to one Mustang and I can say he kicked my ***. A modded Shelby GT500 big block, one of my good friends.

370ish rwhp stock for the Cobra.

I think mine was mid to high 380's. I can't remember. I've made probably 100+ dyno pulls. They feel pretty weak at that power level honestly. For some reason they come alive at 450rwhp.

Yes, yes they do. Last spring I took a look at picking up a used '03 Cobra on a trade in with my WS6. Its only mod was a Bassani exhaust. My car's acceleration felt MUCH more violent, raw, and fast. That's one of the reason I didn't do the trade. I just wasn't as happy with the Cobra in other areas too... I love the car, but it just isn't me.
