Mustang vs Mustang
This afternoon a friend of mine wanted to hang out in The Woodlands. So he comes and picks me up. Another friend of mine wants to tag along. Well one has a 88 5.0 and the other has a 98 GT. they race from a 10 roll the first time and the 5.0 pulls on him till 3rd gear then the GT walked us. Next was from a 40 roll, Same results. My friend with the 5.0 seemed to be having some problems with the shifting. Ive never been in a fast manual car so i wouldnt know.
Both these cars are pretty much stock except the 5.0 has TD's and turndowns. While the GT has it cut off right befor the rear axle. Could anyone tell me why these results happend like they did. i was told that the 88 and the 98 had around the same hp specs. Thanks skeeter.
Ps.. if theirs any people that hasnt liked my grammer so far in all my other post, i tried to make this one a little better.

If the '88 & '98 are both geared similar or the same (they probably aren't though) & they both have solid, strong factory engines w/no current worn/broken parts,
then the '88 should have beaten the '98 (with equal drivers).
The '98 is heavier & has similar hp to the '88, so it should have lost to the 5.0.
Driver mod seems to have made the difference though, or possibly the extra weight of a passenger (you) + driver mod.
Or maybe the '88 has the mileage-friendly 2.73 gears in the rear vs the '98's 3.27's?

If he has an LX 5.0..he should have beaten him a lot better. The modular has better top end but has 1/2 of the lowend the 5.0 has (I can't believe I am saying 5.0's have low-end stock ).

well they raced again last night on hwy 45 from a roll of about 50-60 and the 5.0 pulled some on him. so i guess it was just his driving skills that messed with us the other night.
