New Trans Am, Old GTO
This was my best trip ever to McDonalds. I was cruising down the highway at 80, when I start creeping up on a nice silver muscle car. I had no idea what it was until I was close enough to read “GTO” on it. I had no intention of racing this car; I thought it was pretty sweet just to see one. So I roll up next to him and pace him at about 65, wanting to give him thumbs up. He didn’t even bother to look over but he must have seen me coming up because he dropped the hammer! I was like “Oh Hell No!” I revved up and popped it into third, and planted the gas pedal. Both cars were roaring but I pulled on him pretty damn hard, shifted to 4th with my front bumper just ahead of his, and I made a decent 2 – 3 car gap pretty quick. I went up to about 140 and just let off, I know he quit a while back but I still wanted to have fun.
So a few miles down the highway he is slowly catching up to me because I decided to cruise at 65, well instead of rolling up next to me he flies by motoring away!!! It was an old guy driving, so it wasn’t some punk kid doing a domestic ricer flyby, but still.
Pretty sweet car, it was definitely the highlight of my day. I never thought I would be able to race such a car…good times.
I have a 01 M6, SLP Lid, Loudmouth, MAF. I don’t know what was done to the GTO, but it looked restored and in show condition. It was a 1970 or so, whatever that bodystyle is.

My best friend in highschool had a 68 Tempest with a mild build 400 in it. It was scary off the line but on the highway he was a dog. He got beat by alot of cars on the highway. Hate to say he lost to hondas there too. My 77 Z28 with a built 350 was the same way. 3 speeds suck. (oh yeah, just incase he reads this. His car was much faster than mine. much faster)
