M6 to M5, its total drivers race. 96-98 DOHC Cobras are neck and neck stock for stock with the LT1s

I had a 97 Cobra for years and I would say it would go to the Cobra unless it is a vert.

Cobra weighs a little less, has 3.27 gears, and has a little more power.

Car ran decent stock, added 4.10 gears and really helped alot.

cobra would win. i think those cars are alot better than the lt1. they weigh less and if they know how to drive them i think that it has more oomph than the lt1.

If there are equal drivers...the LT1 will win from a dig and the Cobra should win from a high speed roll (35-55).

Low speed roll and dig the LT1 should win with equal driver that are good.

Very close in power-to-weight, perhaps a slight advantage to the Cobra. Whatever advantage is there is mostly lost by poor gearing for the Cobra (high powerband means it is hurt more by the 3.27s than the LT1 is) and the fact that a stock DOHC car is simply very hard to drag race from a dig. Thus, it shall be close.

BS...Don't listen to that ****, my buddy has a 94 LT1 Camaro..We were f@#*in around about 3 months ago...We were eating at in n out when this guy across the table was talkin about his cobra...Me and my buddy walked over to get some more info...The mods were Bassani Exhaust, and March Pulleys.....Stock gearing and Clutch...We asked if he was interested in runnin my buddies LT1....He said sure if there was an incentive...So we were going to race for gas $$ or some BS..
Anyway, My buddy has the MAC exhaust and Gilotti intake or (?).. The guy wanted to run from a role...So from a 25 roll, we hit it.. After winding out 1st we pulled aout 1/2 car During 2nd he managed to cut out even and in third Well the LT1 pulled about 3/4 of a car ....We raced to the end of 4th, but 1/4 mile speakin at the end of third we had nearly a car....So the 94-98 Cobras when copmared to an F-BOd

Hope this helps

The 96-98 DOHC Cobras don't have ANY HP advantage over an LT1. Both LT1s and Cobras of that era pulled nearly identical RWHP numbers on the chassis dynos. 240-270 RWHP. The LT1s pull more torque (300-310 RWTorque vs 260-280 RWtorque for the Cobra). The Cobra would have a slight Power to weight advantage. All in all dead even matchup and a driver's race.

One car length in the 1/4 mile is easily within the margin of error for a driver.
