Default maybe 1st new GT kill post

I usually DO NOT race on the street, but I saw one of those retro 300hp GTs and just couldn't resist! The dude was really cool, it was a beautiful black 5spd w/600mi on the clock. I'm not a fan of mustang styling, but they look better in person than I was expecting. The interior really caught my attention, much improved over older models.
I don't know exactly what speeds we started/ended because I was paying close attention to my wheelspin. We went from a roll, about 20-30mph(2nd gear). I gave him about a carlength jump and then I slowly put it to the floor to not break the tires loose. Passed him hard while shifting into 3rd. Let off a little into 4th, when he was clearly in my rearview mirror. I don't know how many carlengths I put on him, but he sure was back there!
Whats funny is the guy was reluctant to run 'em because he creamed a Z28 the day before and thought I would be another waste of gas!

Yeah motortrend claimed 13.6 from the automatic..but most of the corral post i see are 14 something. One guy has a 13.7 @ 100mph 5 speed. The others are still running 14 something.

Good kill. I saw my first gt yesterday and threw him a rev. I'd imagine as they get comfortable with their cars, you'll see plenty of mid 13s and maybe a few low 13s.

I thought you meant a Ford GT by the title of this thread. I already got one of those.

Nice kill on the 'stang. I'm curious to see how they respond to mods.

Are the new Gts running the Mach I engine in it or is it another engine derived from the 4.6?

It is a 24 valve SOHC 4.6 liter not the Mach 1. I'm curious to see how they do when people start modding them.

yeah the old GT was 2v, the mach 1 /cobra 4v, and the new gt is running a 3v. I think the output is relatively close the the mach1.. but they just are not running mach 1 times.. (well...motortrend/car and driver are getting mid to high 13s @ 102mph) but everyone else posting is not.

Don't the mach1's dyno around 300hp/tq? The mag I looked at dyno'd the new GT at 267hp, 283tq at the wheels.

Good kill, but I think I may actually have the honor of the FIRST 05 GT kill, I just posted it in the LT1 section a few weeks ago. Not a "street" kill, but a kill no less.

https://ls1tech.com/forums/lt1-lt4-modifications/230697-ran-05-mustang-gt-last-night-atlanta-dragway.html

From what I could tell, they run about what an LT1 F-body runs. Not at the level of the LS1 F-body. I wouldn't expect any low 13s from these GTs. Fastest test is a 13.6 @99 with a 1.9 short time.

Nice kill. I wish I could see one of those out here. I will not be so nice. I will break the tires loose and let him see my tires spinning as I am passing him. Just my .02
