notable recent kills-360 modena, maserati, saleen S281
saleen and maserati were yesterday, ferrari was a few months ago, but about the only noteworthy runs i have had lately.
first up was a mean sounding Saleen S281, i know a few things about stangs, and this wasnt a stock sounding saleen. but anyway we were on the interstate and slowed after an opening in traffic. went from 45mph, i pulled a good car length on him in the top of 2nd, then put another 2-3 on him during third. i shut down around 100, and he was about 3-4 back. closest race i've had with a 2v 281.
next was a brand new black maserati coupe with black windows and black rims with polished lip. very sweet looking car. again we were on the interstate, and first run he never slowed down and we went from about 60, so i had to start in 3rd. he got the jump on me, putting me about half a length back right from the start. but i reeled him in, and going into 4th i had put him about 1 1/2 cars back. we shut down right after i got into 4th. then i got him to slow down to 45mph or so, so i could get into 2nd. i honk and we're off, i put a quick car on him at the top of 2nd, going through 3rd i pulled hard on him putting another 2-3 lengths on him. went into 4th and shut down about 110mph. he was a few back, but did a flyby before i could really judge how bad i beat him.
last race was a sweet silver ferrari 360 modena, beautiful car. older guy driving, and he followed me down the two lane highway for a little while on my way to the interstate. at the light he gets beside me, and i throw him a rev, he responds with that sweet ferrari sound. both lanes turn onto the ramp, and the right one; mine, ends near the bottom. so we make the turn onto the ramp and i motion for him to slow down. we slow to about 5mph barely rolling. i honk 3 times and we go. i get a quick length or so on him before going into 2nd, but he catches up due to traction, or lack there of in my case. but at the top of second i pull a little on him, and going into 3rd i put him about a length back, and keep pulling strong on him into 4th, but he begins to creep back, i shut down about 110 again, and he was prob only a 1 car back. he comes by me with this look of "WTF just happened" and that was enough for me.
anyway thought i'd share the few good races of lately

great kills interested in wat kind of mods you have....also, that saleen was charged, right? I know the top of the line s281 extreme had 445hp and the sc s281 is about 3-something.........
again, great kills, i only hope the older guys here in miami would know wat kind of car their driving and would bit a bit more..even a lose..i would still enjoy watchin those machines go............but, with the new motor.........hehehe!!!!

thanks guys, not sure if the saleen as S/C'ed or not. i dont think it was mainly cause i pulled on him more as we sped up. usually FI cars pull harder when they get wound out. but it ran like it was charged, i think the S281 had 385hp with the S/C. either way it suprised me, i usually kill saleen's with the 281.
as for my mods, i just have a relatively small cam, 218/218 .563/.563 112 with mac headers, carsound cats, FTRA, lid, borla, some other bolt on's. car runs very strong, dynoed @ 364/371 before some of the small stuff like ported TB, etc.. and with a slipping clutch. so it should be good for 375 or so now. i still have the stock LS1 intake and no tuning. i am waiting on a new intake before getting LS1 edit, hp tuners.

yeah i was thinking the supercharged saleen was about 370-380, but i am sure the 2v 281 is about outta breath pushing those #'s. especially for the price, those things are ridiculous. the modular motor from ford is the only way to go if you must have a blue oval. but i would believe this one was either highly modded N/A or S/C'ed with simple exhaust mods. b/c it definately didnt have the quiet saleen exhaust on it, sounded very mean.
the ferrari put up a good fight, but like i said, it was an older guy, maybe in his 40's. so maybe he didnt push it as hard as he could have. but i still think i would have had him until we got to higher speeds, and i am sure he would have come creeping back. those things are made to run at high speeds, and do i through the twisties. so a slow start was definately in my favor, good thing he didnt know that. serves his arrogant a$$ right i bet he'll think twice before going and picking on a little american muscle next time.

i live about 15 mins north of charlotte, and there are by no means a multiple of good cars to race. i have been extremely lucky in the last few days to come across some decent ones. the saleen was on I-85 north coming back from Raliegh on business, so that wasnt even in my area. i can never find any decent runs, these are about all the races i've had in the last 4-5 months. very sad indeed, rice has officially taken the area over. i didnt even have many good runs this summer when you would think all the nice cars would be out driving around. oh well, there's always next year.
