Mustang GT vs. Z06

Ok, so a guy I (unfortunately) know has an '03 Mustang GT auto with headers, full exhaust, 4.10's, throttle body, chip etc. Your usual bolt on car. Obviously right now he's not even a brief concern of mine, however he says hes gonna get a 3500 stall, NX 100 shot and what he called "Stage II Cams." He says he runs 13.6's @ 101 mph now (never seen a timeslip so I dont know for sure) but I'm wondering what he'll run/trap at after all his proposed mods. I know this guy is gonna get this stuff - I'm pretty sure hes not a bullshitter.

So what will this guy run and trap at? Am I safe, and if not, what mods do you think I will need? I'm feeling a 100 shot is good cheap insurance. (All he needs to know is its stock :D)

Thanks

he'll be in the 12's

a 100 shot should end it for him.

badly

It's composite.

A 100 shot on the Z06 will make it no contest... you may have trouble without it though...

Way to be vague ya bonehead......composite means it is "composed" of something, what?

And the Z-06 will loose badly...

A buddy of mine has a 2000 M5 GT and runs 13.8's with a couple bolt-ons. Hes one of the best drivers ive ever ridden with. On a 75 shot and slicks (not D/R's) he ran a 12.8. I think his car might be a bit of a freak. Its his DD so he doesnt even think its a quick car but its decently fast for what it is.

With his upcoming mods he'll be capable of beating you in a drag race, but it's no guarantee. He'll have to get far enough ahead on the low end so you don't catch up. Of course if you spray he's finished, and it should be pretty obvious to him you're modded if you do.

I haven't had the Z06 to the track yet - but I did run an 11.9 in my Camaro at MIR, which is where he ran his 13.6.

Actually, I don't think he would know. He's not reallly into cars per se, and all he evver needs to know is its stock. I can't wait to see his face when gets walked by a "stock" Z06

There's some weird technical term for what the manifold is made of, but it's a composite plastic. The 2V 4.6 also has a composite manifold, with later versions having cast water passages (due to cracking of the plastic designs).

Pilfered without remorse from the "Millenium Motor" article

Specifically, it’s a Dupont material called "Nylon 66" that is a mixture of a Nylon and glass fiber reinforcement.
From BASF's site:

1997 Corvette® LS1 V8 engine has a fuel-saving injection molded nylon air intake manifold. Key benefits of the one-piece, thermoplastic manifold are weight reduction, improved engine performance and reduced manufacturing costs. The manifold is molded of Ultramid® glass fiber reinforced nylon 66 resin.

He not BSing on the 13.6 @ 101 with them mods, I ran a 13.6 at 102 with a 3.73gear and a stock TB and a ported plenum. My car ran and runs much stronger then most GTs. The high stall, 4.10, cams and bolt-ons will put him in the 12s if he hooks. With 100shot its going to be a very strong runner. Depending on the tire hes on will determain the the time, people have gone 11s with that set up. trap I wont have a clue.

BTW the composite intake can take it for a while :)

I agree, I wouldn't be suprised if he does run mid 11s with it. I would spray the z06 for sure to be safe unless you are a perfect driver on drag tires or at least ET's or nittos.

You should still be able to take him fairly easily even with the 100 shot.... :) What kind of times do you run with the Z as it sits?
