Default new black Saleen S281 gets killed on highway

Was coming back from class this morning in the '93 and came to a stop light. This new black S281 is weavin in and out of traffic to get up to the light next to me. Well he does and when the light goes green we both kinda ease off slow waiting for the other one to hit it. Well about midway through second he nails it, and so do i. My car didnt downshift to first so it took a few seconds for the R's to climb up. By that time he was out about a car on me, which i quickly made up. We ran them up to around 125 and I had an easy 3-4 cars on him. I slowed down and waited for him to pull up next to me and he looked over and gave me a kind of lethargic nod, like he knew I just got the better of him and wasnt too happy about it. I gave him a thumbs up and he turned right. Gotta give props to his car though, those saleens are REALLY nice lookin. Dont see too many of them around here. I have to assume it was the N/A version and not the supercharged one by the outcome.

Yea, you get "prep" your Mustang to become a Saleen by doing suspension parts or the body/rims without touching the motor.

There is some guy that is driving around South Boston with a grey new Mustang that looks like a brand spanking new Saleen but he doesn't have any motor work. If the car is turned off just sitting there you would never know it is not a full blown Saleen.

First time he is in back on me the line lock is going to be used!!!!! <img border="0" alt="[shoot]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" />

I don't think you should wory too much on the SC Saleen's out there if they're stock. Keep feedin' the LS1 w/ bolt-on parts and you'll be safe. Heck, I raced a brand spankin' new Saleen yesterday. The final outcome? I had to shut down at 110mph and had a car length on him. When we came down to the speed limit I looked over at the driver to give him a thumbs up, he nodded and tooka right turn at burger joint. Oh well...

One thing you have to remember about Saleens, is that they don't hook up until they are well out of second gear. My dad used to have a 2001 S281-SC, and the tires just would not take until the start of third. However, I still think my car is faster.

trust me, this guy WAS NOT spinning, and we were in third gear range when he hit it. Thanks for the props on my car, it has always been a VERY strong running LT1. When it was stock I got it to go a best of 13.7@103.3. That trap speed is virtually UNHEARD OF in a stock automatic LT1. I have never run the car with the cutout open, but with it closed it went 107.5. So I think it should be good for around 108.5-109mph in the 1/4. The dyno numbers are decent, although I was fairly surprised to see myself pulling 107.5 mph with 290hp at the wheels. Oh well, I'll take it however I can get it.
