Default Old School Street Racing

With all the hub bub about the latest DSM vs. LS1 street race video... I thought there might be some interest in these old school racers.

Big money, big rides and a big road. Now this is street racing.

Now Some people like to get sticky setting the chemicals on fire on the street. Old school rules say drop the rubber on the road.

ftp://38.118.143.57/vids/bigburn-purge.mpeg

Now once your prepped and ready to roll,... pick a real target for the end of the race. You can't miss an overpass right???

ftp://38.118.143.57/vids/camarovsnova1stpass.mpeg

Please remember the rules of big road racing... Starters should not stay in the middle of the road and chase cars should not run down the starter

Now is you race for big dollars, you should probably go 2 out of 3.

Enjoy the shows.

Nice vids. The last one didn't work though.
Is that around Detroit? What do those cars run? They look wicked.

Hmmm,... looks like we lost the second one on the site. I'll take a look for it in the archieves.

I believe those runs were done in Detroit, but I don't have any track times info on the cars. I think it was a 69 Nova with a 540 BBC and a 70 Camaro with a 355 and a healthy spray.

Hey 2001-WS6 & BuckeyeROC

Milan Dragway opens April 5th. You guys going? I'll be there for sure. I need some new times now that I'm spraying.

Actually, my car will be up at Detroit Speedworks getting the final spring touches added next week. We're pulling the heads to get everything cleaned up and checked out before adding a Dual Stage NX MAF kit. We need to toss on the new Spohn CM Torque Arm and a few other pieces. Naturally we're going to run some tuning test with various mixes on the Dual Stage to see how it looks. So it probably won't be done until the end of the day on the April 5th.

The car might not hit the track until the Motownmuscle.com season opener over at St. Thomas on April 19th.

There are some guys from the club though that are looking to hook up at Milan on the 5th. Stop by and check out the site to see how is planning on going.

I don't believe that there was any money on this race. These 2 guys know each other pretty well, and race for fun. I have seen the Nova race a drag bike for cash (and win). The Nova usually takes on any serious competition that comes to the lot. The 70 now has a big block, so I'm sure a re-match will happen sometime this year. I hear that the 70 raced a 9 sec bike at the end of last season (street), and beat it easily. I can't wait! There's also a guy with a built 94 (no longer an lt1) Camaro that's planning on giving these guys a run for their money. Hopefully we'll have the camera's rolling!

The IROC has still not been tuned, so I don't see it running any better times.

2001-WS6, how do you like the guys at Detroit Speedworks? I am considering having them tune my IROC. Although they don't have the equipment for it, I have everything needed to tune it. You think they would do a good job of tuning it? I might have them tune my Trans Am once I get a cam for it too, I know they can tune an LS1 well.

BuckeyeROC,

The guys at Detroit Speedworks do a great job. They've been working on my 2001 since the 1,500 mile mark and I wouldn't go anywhere else. We've put on all sorts of parts from our sponsors (ARE, MTI, Thunder, Tbryne, Speed Inc...) here in my sig. We've gone from bolt ons, to ARE Stage 2 H/C, to MTI 422 and are going to play with the dual stage NX MAF this spring. Wide band tunning on their Mustang 1750 Chassis Dyno will hook you up for sure.

They've got a good mix of N/A, Nitrous, SC (Vortech, Novi & ATI) and Turbo Stangs (including Greg's) and Turbo F-bodies (Harlan is a frequent vistor) on the road around here. They toss in the Lightnings, a few Cobras replicas (Phil's car is impressive) and Vipers to mix it up.

I don't think I could even imagine the amout of sound those 2 beasts created in that basically inclosed area. Im sure if I was the starter, I would be a little hard of hearing for the next 30 min after that start. Great Vids.
