Default Lost to bolt-on + spray '94 Formy M6 :(

My buddy has a '94 Formy M6 with BBK mids, ORY, SLP 2OTL, CAI, few suspension/chassis mods, and a Nitrous Works wet kit that was recently installed a week ago. Right now he's spraying a 75 shot and before, could never even come close to me with my little amount of mods.

A few nights ago, when he was still new to the whole use of nitrous, we raced twice from a dig and I put about 2 car lengths on him by the top of 4th both times, and it didn't appear he was reeling back in at all.

Well the last few days he swore up and down he'd get me from a roll, but I called BS because after he lost our two races, he really seemed to be pulling out the excuses so I figured he was full of it.

Tonight we ran 3 times, from about 50 or so in 2nd gear each time to about 130: the first race I got the jump and stayed ahead, but the last two we were even until about 90 and he just started pulling and had me by about 1/2-1 car length by the time 4th gear ran out (we both have 3.42's). I was kinda surprised/pissed, mostly because in a way, I called him out on it, and have never seen his taillights in a race yet lol. He was alone, and our buddy Jason (about 170 lbs) was riding with me; reguardless if we were both alone, I believe he still woulda nudged ahead, but not by as much.

Well, we can't win them all, right? I was never a nitrous guy before, but tonight, I think he was the salesman who made the sale, because I'm considering looking for a used kit and will probably throw on a 100 shot, because the way his car was prior to N2O, and the way it is now with a 75, I can only imagine the way my car will react with a 100 shot: all this after I get headers. Whadya guys think?

Throw a 150 shot at it, the stock block and power train can handle it no problem. 75 shots are for hondas...

He's just using a 75 shot right now because it's the largest jet that came with his kit, and no one around here has a 150 shot available yet, but that's what he plans on using is a 150 when he can find someone with the jet.

What's the maximum shot you can throw on an LS1 and still have everything be safe? I'm dead serious about a nitrous kit now.

I believe with anything higher than a 100 shot, it's generally a good idea to get a better fuel pump, other than that, I think you'll be fine with the 150. I'm hesitent to say stock internals would handle 200, but i'm sure a N2O junky can correct me.

I like LT1s for obvious reasons but look at what it takes for them to beat LS1s. He has a lid, cat-back, and intake on his LS1. The LT1 has headers, y-pipe, cat-back, CAI and nitrous and it is still that close? I'm not one to bitch about the LT1 but it just seems hard as hell to make them really fast compared to how easy it is for LS1s. Bolt-on LS1s are normally running what, 112-115 in the 1/4? It seems like most people with bolt-on LT1s are running around 104-105. I guess my point is that it seems to be soooo much easier for LS1s.

It's definitely easier for LS1s to put out more power. But it's definitely not hard to mod an LT1 if you know your head from your ******* when it comes to them. Once you break into the heads and cam they can make some good power. LT1s are making ~420 rwhp on ported stock castings nowadays. LT1 heads in stock form are very restrictive compared to LS1 heads, that's where the LS1 gets the majority of its power from.

I have a 150 shot on my car and took my friend in his 35th SS by about 2 - 2 1/2 cars. This was also from a roll. But the second race it was dead even, but of course the bottle was pretty much empty and for some reason I have been losing fuel pressure when on the juice.

Dude, you pulled me with the 75, and riding in your car with the 150 made my neck sore lol, so I don't think we even need to race to know how bad it'd be.
