took out a 97TA in da 305
Ran last night on the big street strip down here called the all mighty Morland Ave. I ended up racing a 97 Trans AM I won the first race by about 4 and a half and the second race i blew the tires off and he put about 3 on me. He felt over confident about his car so we line up again and he sets me out one. Bad move mister post man, I take off and spun very bad, in fact so bad that my little single track rear end cought possie and the rear of the car begain to fish tail and i hit second and keep about 2and a half on him and run up about to 75mph and never went to 3rd gear sucky *** 700r4's so i let out. Good run. I went back to the starting line and the big crowd and every one congragulated me. Felt so good. 305 Take it to the house!

if you ran 9.4 in the 1/8.. his car is f*cked up.
But I didn't really get much out of what you said.. at least if you had written it in spanish we would have been able to translate it online and that would have probably made more sense.

I dont know what the car runs as of now after the modded motor but it ran 9.40's on the stock 305. No grudge against any lt1, I love the motors but some day i will marry the ls1 and cheat on her with her big sister the ls6.

I was very happy with my LT1 (95 TA -sold-) and you must have done some stuff to the 305, but in all honesty, my friend with a mild bolt-on 5.0 could almost pace me (his mods were 3.73's, cold air, full exhaust, pullies, new tires and new stock clutch.) At lower speeds he could definitely pace me. I was cold air intake A4. (Yes, 2.73's HURT, but i could still hang with LS1's until we hit 50 mph or so from a dig, from a roll, well, nevermind that.) Nice 86' I personally liked the IROC style camaro's and think its a shame not to see more of them in good shape. Same for the Fox 5.0's.

You consider that a lightly modded 305? Cam, Intake, Heads? Makes a significant difference in a 305. Although I don't see why he wouldn't swap... Good kill nonetheless.

I don't know why some of you are bitching, the post sounded fine and was perfectly readable to me. Heads/cam 305 killed an LT1. Nice job man, hope you get an LS1 soon!

Agreed, My lightly modded 87 ran a 10.0 spinning through 1st into second but I don't see a 9.40. Is it a TPI car? If so then maybe but that sounds like a load of B.S to me. My 305 was a roller motor so it revs really quick and puts out some good power, 225hp at the wheels to be exact , anything is possible though

I had a stock 305 in 3rd gen when I was in high school and that would be lucky to run 10.40s much less a 9.40.

i believe it man in my 84 almost stock, all i had was cat delete, k&n and flowmaster, i was runnin 10. flats, the bad thing about 3rd gens is the peg leg rears, i hated it u cant leave the line but at like 1 grand or shell spin bad, i prolly could have got a 9.6 or .7 if i had my shift points fixed it word shift late in 1st, there fun cars to drive, if it was as fast as my 99 id still be drivin it, and the 60 foot times were the same maybe even faster i was gettin 2.2 in mine so far ive only got a 2.1 in the 99 but that is with 20s and 2.73

You can hog the hell out of stock 305 heads and they will still flow like crap. Hell I remember CHTP putting ported Vortec Heads and a bigger cam on a 305 in a 3rd gen and only got 228 RWHP out of it. Comparing a Foxbody to a 305 3rd gen is like comparing an 04 Mustang GT to an 04 Cobra, yeah the displacements the same but that is it. Good kill I reckon nonetheless
