Default I hate Ricers! 300 horsepower naturally aspirated 4cyl...yeah right!

Let me go on the record by saying that I hate Ricers with a passion! They are the stupidest people that I've ever come into contact with!

I had a guy telling me last night that he has a Civic that will peel out in every gear including 5th. He also said he has a 300 horsepower 4 cylinder engine but he's never seen it on the dyno and has no dyno sheet to prove it. The best part was that he's naturally aspirated! The guy is dirt poor and I'm sure he couldn't afford any kind of power adder! I wonder how many stickers he has that make him go even faster!

Just to ease my curiosity, there's no way that there could be a 300 horsepower naturally aspirated 4 cylinder is there? Especially without spending a good 50 grand! Even then you need a power adder! The STI's engine is a 2.5 litre that's turbocharged! I can respect that, but not a mid 90's civic that allegedly has 300 hp!

Like I said, I hate RICERS! They are all

Actually it's EXTREMELY possible to have a N/A 4cyl putting out 300 hp. However based on your description of the guy he just sounds like a ricer.

300hp NA 4-banger is VERY common if you go to dirt-track racing events in the 4cyl class.

Hes lying. But Ive heard of legitimate 300+hp n/a 4cylinders.... but I bet its not cheap to get them to that power, and its probably cheaper just to buy a V8 car that has stock 300+ hp.

While were on the subject, did anyone see that video in the video section of the forum where that civic beats an LS1 Trans Am in a race? It almost made me cry . That civic had a huge turbo though.

its very very possible. you get the k24 block from a honda/acura and then throw on the rsx tpye s head. so agressive cams, hondata, header and tuning and its very very possible.

edit: I jsut got my sports compact car mag for this month in the mail today..they did a build up of a k series honda engine. They made 312 hp at the wheels on race gas on the motor that they built. they also put ina less radical..mroe streetable cam and made 302 hp at the wheels. of course..this did cost a decent amount of cash, but nothign an enthusiast couldn't get in time.

I'm no expert on what ricers are doing to 4 cylinders these days but that sounds about as rare as a terd that smells like daisy's!

This kid isn't the type that could afford so much as a new block nevermind heads and cams.

How much money would it take to build a 4 cyilinder motor that's around 300 hp naturally aspirated anyways?

It is possioble but he is probably full of ****! No dyno is the first clue, besides they get 180 to the wheels on some bald tires that spin and think they are the next John Force.

machine the block $500
Custom ground cam(s) at least $500
Forged crank $500ish
Forged I-beam rods and Pistons (not sure, but not cheap)
Titanium or stainless race valves
Bronze valve rod guides
Extensive head work or new heads
MSD or Crane ignition

That is a good start to the list.

My brother is huge into imports. All have turbo's except his S2000 which came with 240hp stock, so all we would need is an extra 60hp.

The S200 may make 260 at the Fly but 237 at the wheels, Read on(This came straight from there websight:

Ready for blastoff?
Take a deep breath, buckle up and press that bright red start button. Because the S2000 packs a 237 hp, 2.2-liter VTEC® engine, making it the most exhilarating sports car Honda has ever built. This one-of-a-kind vehicle exemplifies 40 years of Honda racing. Its DNA is that of a pure thoroughbred F1 race car, with a long lineage of Honda engineering milestones, including a victory in the 2004 and 2005 Indy 500. You don't have to take its engine up to 8000 rpm's to hear those performance genes loud and clear… although you can, just for fun. With new alloy wheels, sportier seats and a Drive-by-Wire Throttle System™, the S2000 is ready, willing and able. Are you?

your right..and wrong..under the old way that they used to rate engines...the 00-03(i think it was 04 that they stroked it to a 2.2..it may have been 05 though) s2000 was rated at 240flywheel hp. the new way..its a lil less.
