who would win...
hey guys, i had a question..if you had an A4 and M6. all the have the exact same longtubes, lid, pulley, ory, catback, fast 90/90 and both had 3.42 gearing. and both are running afr 205..the only difference is the auto is running a 224/581/112 with a 3200 stall and a the M6 is running futrals f13 cam? who would win? im just curious if the auto would pull, or if the futral and that cam would pull? how would it be from a dead stop and a roll?

I say the m6 with a good driver. If you do it on radials the stahl would hinder the A4 from a dig. And a roll the m6 is king. With a a good tire I still give it to the m6. The mods dont take it out of effective range as where you would need an A4 for good passes.

Assuming both cars have equal drivers that are able to cut the same 60', the M6
car would win because it's going to have less parasitic drivetrain loss. More power
is going to be put to the ground. That is also assuming the M6 driver can row the
car properly because we all know the 4L60E shifts faster than a person can.

I raced a buddy with similar mods as me....he had a '99 Z28 M6 with lid, Mac mids, catted Y-pipe, SLP LM, Diablo tuner and Spec Stage III clutch. I had lid, Lt's, TD's and the A4. On the highway, I hung three out of three races. He would slowly, slowly start to pull away from about 60-65 to about 100-110. I'm talking my front bumper would be at his front tire at the end of the runs. The final run I hung dead even with him. He put down 345 rear wheel and I know I'm not there....maybe 330ish. I was surprised because M6's are supposed to rule from a roll. And he can drive as good as anyone. He runs 12.8's to my 12.9. So it might be closer than you think. Or my car puts down more than I think. But three races gave us a good average and they were good solid runs. My highest trap is 108.5 on a 13.0 run, so I don't know if that equates to more than 330 rear wheel or not.

I haven't had any problems yet......and I made several trips to the track last summer. 70K on the tranny and it continues to perform as much as I could ask it to. After my M6 car, I was actually pretty impressed with the tranny. This is my 3rd 4L60E vehicle and I have never had any issues. That doesn't mean that I won't, but so far so good.

IMHO, a well built 4L60E isn't a bad transmission. I love riding in my buddies car (being a modified A4, cam only car). And mine being a cammed M6....
Honestly, I think if the 2 cars in question though, were to go 10 races, it'd probably be even...Because the A4 WILL hit snappy shifts EVERYTIME...and the M6 is a hit or miss, no matter how good the driver, **** happens....
In a single, from a dig race though, I have to agree. I say it depends on how good the M6 driver is. If he shifts early, late, or two slow....he loses...All the A4 driver has to do is stab and steer, and he KNOWS he'll be fast
