Default Should I race this WRX?

Ok.. this kid got his college loans and spent it on this car. He bought thecar and "supposedly" put a ton of money into the thing. $10k motor and a massive intercooler. BLAH BLAH.

He wants to race for $200 and I dont want to for a couple reasons, im a stock A4 LT1 with nitrous. The posi is gone out of my car and a plugged converter (i think). I would race him for fun no matter what though.

I doubt he has the money he said he has into the car, but you never know. College is exspensive and there is a lot of money to be spent there.

Think if i get in second gear, at about 3000 rpms, and spray a 100-125 i may have a dying chance? This is after i unplug my converter and cut the exhaust off (for now untill cuttout is here).

This is Casper ******* Wyoming to though... and the fgastest car on the streets bar far (and i mean by a TON... way faster than anyhting else) is in the 10's...

Fix it and take his money and pride. Make sure your tranny can take it.

dont do it if you think you will break the darn thing, nothing looks gayer than going to school some bitch and your own car craps out and has to be towed. Other than that, race him. He needs the 200 if he did what he says he did...lmao.

you know your car better then anyone else man. If you think it won't break during a pass,...take his money.

If he has 10k in his motor though, and that just isn't some bullshit,...you might have a problem.

How much are you spraying?

whats you car run?...like 115 traps? maybe?...

i think im going to spray a 100 wet... using FJO progression mini controller.

as for what my car runs... i have NO idea...

The 10 sec 1964 elcomino in town has never ran his before either... he just beats the hell out of all the low 11 high 10 sec cars in town (by a LOT... must be the 275 shot..)...

and i have never seen the WRX take off eitherl... none of the people i know have seen it run.... it is talked up by most people in town... then a few talk it down, saying it barely beats this h22 civ (that i smoke)

Soo...you spray NOW?....or your going to spray?

and if your spray now, do you have to spray to beat the H22 hatch?

No... the civ... a 4 door.. lol.... i beat wihtout spray...

I have talked to people who know the first owner of the WRX and who didall the stuff to it... they say they would be pretty confident in my LT1 with the spray... but only from a roll. They think from a dig, unless i have slicks and can hook, i'll get killed.

I did not know they made a 64 El Camino.

A A4 LT with mechanical problems at altatude is likely not going to do so well on a poor traction street against a brand new WRX with lots of mods.
The juice might be a great equalizer, but I really dont think its wise to risk your cars functionality.

I dont get however how people just go pulling numbers like 10K out there ***. Seriously. I am building up a DSM, and I am spending more than most DSMers, and we called my project the 5252 becuase thats about the cost of everything I wanna do in the engine bay. It wont just be fast, it'll turn well and run for years reliably on pump gas day in and day out. (Yes its doable on a DSM LOL) My car will make STis its bitch when Im done. WTF is this kid doing? A great monster turbo rarely costs more than 1500. A STi bottom end and headwork would be like 4000. Intercoolers and plumbing dont cost more than 1500 unless your a dumbass. Manifolds maybe another 1000. external wastegate stuff maybe another 500. Thats almost 10K there. It should also run low 11s easy. Do you really think its that fast, given the think your car has a chance? This kid spent his tuition on mods, Im guessing hes kinda dumb. I bet he has a Greedy FMIC and BOV, and a 16G turbo with exshaust, running like 14 PSI.

Basicly, who knows. I would'nt.

I can tell you I have $10,000 into my SRT4 and I have no doubt I would walk your sprayed LT1 from a roll so Im thinking he would as well, if he really does have that much into it. Sounds to me like its not all its made out to be though form the way others have talked about it.

with problems? i had no idea a plug cat (unless you tlaking about the rear end... but it will be fine for probly the length of the summer) could be considered "problems"... the motor is brand new.... it is finaly rolling to the 2500 mile mark.

The last guy i talked to who knew him personaly "didn't know the details" but all that he had done was play wiht the boost and add this HUGE *** intercooler on it. The front bumper don't even fit on the car because of the intercooler. He said the car was fast, but he would be pretty confident in racing him wiht my car on the squeeze.

I'd just start talking to the guy about cars, mods, his mods, etc.. etc..

You will find out very quickly if he knows what he's doing or if he's a ricer.

I post a lot on clubwrx and my girlfriend has a wrx, so I know a bit about them. From what I've seen, most of the people with about 10-12k into their motor are good for high 11's - low 12's. That's from what I've seen... they are pretty murder on the street though, because what they run at the track, is what they'd run on the street. Have fun though.

lol... well as far as ive heard, all i need to do is hook and he is mine.... even if i dont hook i'd be realing him in quick. I guess the guy was so retarded with what he was doing, people think a stock STi will run with or beat his. The car has got a CRAZY amout of boost going to it, but it sounds like the motor is going to be gone in a matter of weeks (like it already sounds dead). What boost are these things running stock?

"...all I need to do is hook and he is mine"

You've solved the clue.

Just put on some tires, spray your car....and kick his ***.

DO IT.
