Default 94 Z Vs 04 GT

So, I was driving and a nice GT pulls up next to me. (It had big M/T slicks on the back, so I expected it to be modded) It turns out I knew the passenger, so we started talking a bit. It was a 5-speed 04 GT with full bolts except headers and a pulley they said. (including a gear) He runs mid 8's in the 1/8 and a 13.4 in the quarter. (I saw the timeslip) They were telling me headers on the Mustang doesn't really do much, unless you have head work. I assume they knew what they were talking about since the other guy had a 99 GT with the same mods except he has headers and it didn't make much of a difference.

So, I decided to race him for fun. We went from a 15 roll and they told me he let off around 100 and I won by 3 cars. I'm just going by what they said. I was expecting the race to be a little closer, so I was pleased with the results. He was convinced I had more mods. The only hp bolt ons I have is LT headers and a moroso CAI. (a little tune as well)

LT's on a mustang do a bit, shorties dont do too much though. LT's DEFINITELY do more on a larger CI motor like the 346/350's

Alot of good running slicks out back and racing from a roll. 13.4 is still not to bad if it was a slush box. My 94 T/A had numerous mods including rr's,headers,lt4 hot cam, tune,dr's etc. with stock gears 3.23's and I only could muster up a 13.3 @ 104mph best. Sounds like you got yourself a runner. Good Kill

Good kill. I had bolt ons, exhaust AND a 100 wet shot on my girlfriends 01 GT to get it to feel ....O.K. Poor bastards. You know though. The 4.6 is fine for a quick car to drive, but if you are a POWER hungry lunatic like myself, leave it on the side of the road. I have seen in MMFF guys with EVERYTHING done to 5spd GT's less blower/nos and the run mid 12's low 12's at 107-111mph. The Mach 1 should be the base engine. Ill shut up now. ANd yes I drive a Cobra and was knocking Ford. Wierd huh?

Yeah, something is wrong with this picture. Did you get a 2.1 60' or something? I ran an 8.4 with the mods I have now and I didn't even torque it off the line. I've only run the car twice and the second time I got a 1.94 60', but I didn't finish that run, because someone wrecked and I let off. I think I could have managed an 8.3 on that run.

Anyway, with a cam and rr's I would think a 12.6 on the motor. I'm curious why the cam didn't do anything for you...

Quite a few people told me that I should have ran better times. The main reason I got rid of that car was because of the opti-spark. I replaced the opti-spark 3 times in 6 months. The only time that the car ran perfect was the day I sold it. Figures...

With a little help from the traction Gods, I figure you'd be in the 12's for sure. I need a nitrous tune bad. At the moment I am running the stock tune to prevent detonation in the event I spray it. The car runs flat without the performance tune, but I would rather keep it on the safe side.
If you get bored tomorrow shoot me a P.M. I could possibly meet you in the middle in Natchitoches. It is suppose to rain tomorrow though.

I am not really running or driving my car much until i get the carb put on this spring break, its running MAD RICH or lean, depending on fuel pressure, it has no happy medium screw EFI.... When I get my carb though, I would not be opposed to it (just not in the rain

Not to hijack or nothing but I managed to run a 12.1 @ 116 mph on the bottle last weekend. I also managed to break my rear end.
