99 trans am vs 04 gto story
this weekend i raced my friend in his gto. we starterd from a roll and i had him both runs from the start. i immediatley pulled on him and slowly kept pulling. the only thing was that he had 2 extra people in his car. weight probably added up to around 300 lbs. would the race have been that much closer if they werent in the car?

one of the guys that i know used to drag race all the time and he said that if you ever loose to someone and you have people with you, kick their *** out and run them again. lol i imagine it would have been closer.

you should have no prob with the 04 goat. like stanger said they are "dog slow" if they were lighter they would be a huge force to hang with stock. Dont get me wrong though, modified lightly, pretty quick cars. Just watch out. They can surprise you.

You wanna talk about slow I have a stock '02 Mustang GT. The GTO is pretty impressive to me especially on top end. Or course I've driven a C5 Vette and been a passagner in a LS2 GTO.

Bah, hey NY, are you stock or modded? yer running almost exactly what that LS1 GTO I ran pulls (last i heard he was 12.7, i ran him when he had a best of 12.8@109) We went from 60-95, he missed a gear and we let up with our front tires almost side by side. He claimed it a loss for him but added that he would have had me by 1 car if he hadnt missed (i will agree with him, he was creeping by me) but when I get my 6AL and my Holley 670 in, I think the story might be different (Hoping for 10-20 more rwhp and to drop 20-30# from all the EFI stuff bein ripped out)

Ripped off...hrmmm 340bhp crate motor for 3200...AOD to TKO500 conversion for under 2500 using billet flywheel, hurst shifter, etc.....hrmmmmm, add my #'s up and they look damn good. most F-bodies go for 6500-10K in good shape w/low miles and an LS1 under the hood. if you payed more and yer car isnt an 02, then YOU got ripped. As far as slow compared to a mustang...well, the GTO and the mustang do about the same thing here at Gilliam, lol, usually 14.0@100-102 is all you expect outta a GTO around here. Even a "driver" usually only pulls HIGH 13's. most guys i talk to run mid-low 14's in their stock 04 6-speeds. the one with full bolt ons almost mirrored NYTIGER's time/et. Anywho, no, 15K was a damn good price for what I have. if you can build a car comparable to mine for cheaper...tell me how. PS, no used parts (no, not even a .030 over block)

hrmmm, i really need to shut up until I run an LS1 F-body, but i feel that they should be MONUMENTALLY FASTER than a stock GTO, considering the GTO i ran had full bolt-ons and if he had driven PERFECT woulda only walked me by 1 car 60 to 95. Maybe I am selling myself short, but i kinda doubt it.
