Default Firehawk beats 03 Cobra???

Hey whats up guys, well I got a story for you guys and its also a question, lol. Anyways one of my buddys has an 02 Firehawk with a lid, slp loudmouth,Nitto DR's and the guy who he bought the car off of (older guy by the way mid 40's) said that he had the stock 10 bolt rebuilt with 3.73's and built stronger and said that it should be able to handle 500whp??? Well anyways the other night when we were out, some guy we know pulls up in a bone stock 03 Cobra (Use to have an 99 GT before). Well were in the burger king parking lot and the guy walks over to us with his friend and asks my friend if he wants to run him now because because my friend raped his *** when he had the GT. So when he asks for the race, he has a smirk on his face like that firehawk is going to get fucked. So my friend accepts the race and we start heading out to a local road that is always dead. My friend keeps telling me that he is going to lose, but for some reason i kept thinking that he had a chance. Well we get to the spot and i get out to flag and tell both of them that the winner hits the hazards (ricers, haha). Anyways my friend smokes his DR's up and pulls up. They line up and go and the Firehawk jumped nasty off the line. Instantly pulled about 2.5 cars and was going. As im watching i see the hazards of the Firehawk turn on . Well they get back and i ask what happened and my friend says he beat him by a car. Well the Cobra wants to go again. So they went 3 more times and the results were pretty much the same. My friend said that he would beat him low end pretty bad and that the Cobra would start catching up, but it would be too late. Well my question is that is my friends car just that much faster than that Cobra, or is it that the driver in the Cobra couldnt race. Like i said earlier the Cobra driver did have a GT before, so im assuming he knows how to race. Also a firehawk is lighter than a WS6, and im thinking that it might have that rearend built because even though my friend is on DR's, it hasnt given out yet. DR's should also have helped my friend out alot. What you guys think???

Sounds about right to me. The firehawk should be a mid 12 second car and the Cobra, if it was stock, should be a high 12 second car. If the firehawk beat the cobra by more than a car length or two, I would start to blame the cobra driver.

nice kill, not all cobra drivers are "haters".

3.73's, sticky tires, and traction work wonders....

traction = win
If the snake had some tires it'd be close, good second hand kill though

the story sounds about right! It would be a different outcome if the cobra put dr's on there. Thats all they have to do. pully swap and intake and I would just call it a night for the firehawk. Dosent take that much to get a 04 cobra into the 500's

Good kil, over and over. Your car is faster. If you pulled him instantly, thank your traction and gears. If he is stock he may not run you down. Either way you won. Stock Cobras are not unbeatable and not very fast. Good job.

Yeah...an LS1 F-body with a lid, exhaust, gears and DR's should beat a bone stock '03/'04 Cobra.
I went 12.6@112 bone stock on F1's in my '03, which is probably about what an LS1 with those mods will run.

Not very fast stock are you kidding me?? It only took MotorTrend 33.1 secs to get to 151 for a stock '03/04 Cobra. I consider that fast. Of course I'm at the bottom of the cellar looking up in my stock '02 GT

What I meant was when you have had 10 and 11 sec cars, you get into a mid/high 12 car......F E E L S slow. Its a shame the limiter kicked in so hard it threw the guy forward he said. Trade your car for a Cobra man, or better yet...get a used 98-99 LS1, best car for the money!

Yeah I agree but I can't afford to get a '03/04 Cobra or a LS1 right now. I got this '02 GT used December of 2004 so I still owe a bit on it. Hopefully by mid '07 I'm ready for something bigger and better. Just have to be patient. Even if somebody bought the car from me I still owe the bank.

Isn't detonation possible when throwing so much power at our 2V's?? Also I'm not big on N20. I'd rather have something that's always there anytime. I figure why spend my saved money on my car just to get into the low 13's, high 12's when I can save up for the next two years and get a used car that's already there stock like a LS2 GTO. My GT is my daily driver and I'd be sacrificing reliability and driveability just to have my car keep up with where some of you guys were stock.

In a couple of years who knows....................

Yeah, I wouldn't put nitrous on it either Tornadic, not the DD. The race above sounds about right for the described Mods.

When my Firehawk was bone stock down to the paper filter I raced a buddy with a brand new '04 Cobra (he still had the dealer tag on it).

Starting at about 3k rpm in 2nd until a lil' into 4th gear his rear bumper was 2ft in front of mine and he was starting to pull a bit more as the race was ending.

He was strong, but just a bolt on or two (LS1) and they run dead even till the 'stang pulleys, cai, ehhausts, and tunes, then the LS1 will need a big cam and all bolt ons to stay even.

Right now my 'Hawk will flat murder a stock 03-04 Cobra.
