Went cruising around today because the weather was awsome, spotted a bright yellow Z06 - I was like.. LUUUCKY.

2nd gear roll to 4th I had him by a good car and a half.

We pulled over and talked for awhile, the car is a stock 2004 Z06. Car is spotless! I think hes going to twin turbo it now

My car is a exhaust/intake/shortshiftet (12.84@111mph 100%stock)

Well, I always say anything can happen on the street, but he should be making a bit more hp than you. We actually ran a C6 Z06 and beat it in our C5Z, lol, it was an old man, I think he started in 5th gear whereas we dropped it down to 4th Anywyas nice run.

You did see that his car ran 12.8 bone stock right?????

with his mods he's probally running 12.6's at 113 mph. More than enough to run even with the average 2002 z06 and beat most 2001 Z06's..

Race could have went eighter way but obviously running 12.8 at 111 mph in a stock C5 this guy is a great driver..

Awsome 2.73 Vette - im already on the CF but im at my girfriends house right now (dialup) so ill hit it up when I get to my house.

But with the vararam and slp loudmouths im trapping 114/115mph in the 1/4th now.

I have a nx wet kit jetted for 150shot but im still on a stock (replacment) clutch, so im not running the bottle.

2.73...oh no I didnt see that rember this was from a roll, so I would be looking at trap speed, So with that being said im sure you know what 02+ Z06's trap.

He just posted that his car trapps 115 mph. Quite a bit faster than 01 z06's and even with the average 2002 z06..So whats your point?????

And, uh, 2001 Zo6's aren't slow. Ranger went 11.9 with a 2001 Zo6, bone stock. What was the time that GMHTP ran with a 2001 Zo6 - 11.97? My best in my anemic underpowered '01 Zo6 is 12.43 @ 114.9... The temperature of the engine has a lot to do with how well a Z performs. Cruise in traffic or sit in the drivethru and the temps hit 230 and if you race right after that, it ain't gonna be pretty for the Zo6 driver.

I never said the 01 was slow, I know they are pretty similar...ALL I was saying is 2.73 kept referring to 01's it wasnt an 01. I'd like to run a regular Vette in our Z06 to see the difference, havent really had the opportuninty to. Well we raced a guy in his C5 vert, but I dont know if he was trying, cuz if he was, it wasnt pretty.

At my track my bone stock Auto ran a 13.5...The fastest 2002 z06's ran 12.9 bone stock.....6 tenths is a butt whooping vrs my auto when it was bone stock.

The first mod I did was the summit LS1 to LS6 conversion..Power went from 299 rwhp to 340 rwhp. Car went from running 13.5 at 103 on average to 13.1 at 106.5 on average...

The LS6 H/C is weak sauce...been there and done that. The actual LS6 C5 Z06 Vettes were 1-2 tenths faster than my LS6 auto coupe due to weight and gearing..

Now when I put in a small 224/224 cam I picked up as much mph from just the cam as the hole LS6 H/C set up and regurly beat stock Z06's at the track and ESPECIALLY on high way rolls were I have better arodynamics and vastly superior gearing...

So please dont try to act like a Z06 cant be beat by a coupe.. Theve got eaxactly the same engine minus the H/C...And the H/C in the LS6 set up is EXTREMELY MILD compared to any real Heads or cams..

The worst money I ever spent was putting 2002 LS6 heads and Cam into my C5...

Once you open the engione on a coupe or Z06 it's anybodys game..The Z06 will always be around 100 pounds less mod for mod. But the coupes drag of .29 will always be better than the Z06's .32.

So once you open the engine alls fair. and if you want a fast vette your probaly gonna open it..

And yea before anybody makes a comment my track is slow. It's in hawaiian air and goes slightly uphill.. Never seen a Z06 trap better than 111 mph here or hit 12's bone stock. and I go twice a month all year lond and of course I know what the other Z06/cupe guys are running.....

His 12.8 bone stock is just as fast as many Z06 guys that post on corvette forum..And at 115 mph he's currently running dead even with stock 2002 z06's...Dont hate on him or get mad that some lowly FRC's or coupes can adge out your Z06..

Anybody with a C5 could go to any dealership in the US right now and trade it in for a 2002 Z06 that barely cost 30 grand..

I could trade my 04 into a dealership for a 2002 z06 as an even trade.......Dont try and act like your C5Z06 is in the same leauge as a Viper were a 2002 can cost 55 grand.

It always amazes me how some Z06 guys think there car is so unique. Anybody who bought a c5 coupe or convertable could have gotten a Z06. The coupe/convertable and Z06 are all priced within 7 grand of eachother MSRP..With the convertable being the most expensive...

I live in hawaii and my wife cant drive a stick so I got an auto coupe to enjoy driving through Hawaii with the top off.

Haha seems like your more pissed than me, I could care less if his car is faster than my Z06. Not to mention I dont know how you can say dont get mad his FRC can edge out your Z06, you dont even know what I have dont to it. Oh and BTW if you havent noticed you can get Vipers for way less than $55K haha matter of fact im actually looking at one

I raced a bone stock 2006 C6 Z06 in the right lane and me with my not stock 2001 C5 Z06 in the left lane at BMP back in the fall and it wasn't pretty...

How is your gearing superior? I see 2.73's in your sig, did you change them?Stock converter?

The trans is different.... They weigh 100lbs less as you stated.

How many Z06 drag racers actually in Hawaii? How many of those can actually drive a Z06? I witnessed a Z06 go 13.8@108 last year. I went 12.04@115 at the same track.

So, an 02 coupe would be 24. What's your point?

nAA MY TRACK IS SLOW.. My 13.5 bone stock in a 2.73 geared auto is FREAKISHLY fast at my track.

And yes my 2.73 gears are superior on the freeway..especiaslly from a 70-90 mph roll start speed..

But the M12 is vastly superior on the drag strip..So it's an even trade.

There have been many times I was pissed that my car has 2.73 gears at the drag strip. But there have also been many times I was greatful for the gearing on freeway rolls.

As for the gearing being superior on the freeway.. Think about it..

2002Z06's hit 165-168 mph on the freeway with 350 rwhp...

Auto /manual coupes hit 170-176 mph on the freeway with only 300 rwhp..

The 2002 Z06's m12 is awesome for the drags. But not great for the freeway. The drag of .33 dosent help as well compared to .29 for the coupes...

BUT IN EVERY OTHER WAY MINUS LOOKS....TOP SPEED AND DRAG THE C5Z06 IS FAR SUPERIOR.

Im in the markey for a 2003-2006 viper as well. But the cheapest 03's I have found have been 55 grand ( a steal IMHO) if you know of cheaper ones please post a link for me.
