Default Charger SRT 8

Anyone know much about these....I just ran across one on the freeway. Still had the dealer's paper plate on it so I know it wasnt modded. We started playing around at about 65-70 bad spot for me (A4). He pulled on me pretty good on the top end. Tried to get him to slow down but he maintained 65-70. So I figured ok lets go again and same thing he pulled me again. Not making excuses but I could hear my car pinging in the upper rpms so I'm working on getting that fixed now so I'll be ready next time I see one. Only mods I have are cat back, lid and bellows.. Was looking on the Dodge web site and the say 425HP and 13 second range in the quarter. Should I have taken him?

65-70 you should shift down to second in an A4.

What is your car, year(i assume 98+), etc.

Those have hit 12's in the 1/4. Quick cars for how heavy they are.

Yeah, manually shift that tranny I have a friend selling his 4L60E out of a totaled F-bod, I will let him know you will be needing it after a few thousand miles if you do that.

Charger/300 SRT-8's are capable of low 13's/high 12's trapping at 107+ stock. There's a guy on chargerforums.com that only had his Charger SRT-8 for a week and went to a 1/4 track and ran a 12.8 at 108 bone stock.

No don't shift it manually.

My A4 always shifts down to second from 60-70 punches. Doesn't feel at all like a dead spot shifting to 4-5k.:dunno:

Manually shifting these cars is possibly the WORST advice you can give him. Definately a good solid way to blow your tranny.

Maybe you should do a search on stuff and learn what you're talking about before you go giving advice that's going to make someone break parts ...

just like you won't see everyone in a c5 z06 go 11.77s (current record IIRC) theres a bone stock 300c that went 12.56s at Atco back in December/January.

Shoulda pulled her down in second, with 323's you'd have at least 10 mph more or so to go in 2nd.

Disclaimer: Not too good for your tranny, but you wouldn't have bogged.

They're capable of going 170+ stock. A couple of owners have already hit 165+.
