if they adapted variable valve timing for V8 engines, it would be great. you'll need a double overhead camshaft motor to make it happen though. GM should be going this route soon with their V8's. they're running out of room with these pushrod motors. the LS7 is pretty much maxed out and its compression is through the roof for a stock motor. i predict in 10 years, GM's going to have DOHC V8's, and who knows, maybe a General Motors version of variable valve timing. i'd love to see it. imagine a V8 that has the feel of a baby cam down low that gets 30mpg cruising around town, but you'd have the feel of a t-rex up top in an engine that could saftely rev to 9 grand on stock bottom end and 10 - 11 grand on built parts! DOHC is the way to go, no matter how much we hate to admit it.

A 4-5 liter DOHC turbo Vette would be badass, but man what a rethink. I cant wait to see what the LS9 looks like in the end.

I found a small used car lot one day outside of town. It had an old 87-89 Shelby Daytona. It wasn't the regular Shelby, it was a light weight version, similar to the Formula of the Daytona. The guy at the lot said it would run 13s with exhaust. Should have bought it, he didn't want much for it, and it was in decent condition for its age. Would have been a fun car.

87 Datona Shelby?
I'm thinking if you got a got a cargo plain to fly 1320 ft above the ground, and you shoved that thing out the door, I figure that it would hit the ground in as little as 13 second's flat, more or less.

They can be made fast with some money. There are dozens of turbo dodges that are running 13.5 and faster. We've all seen the video of the turbo mini-van outrunning the LT1 Z28 and the silver K-Car destroying a 12sec Supra at the track.

^^not to mention that turbo'd 4 door saturn that rocks the LS1......
2 fasst ss - one of the funniest sig's I've ever seen.....just wanted to say so.
yes, the 454 is 7.4 liters, and the bore would hold my fist.....
your wife sounds cook as fark!!! - make sure you tell her we think so....
this was in reference to an 80hp escort.... was too funny to only be said once in this thread
that sounds like something I said when drunk to these girls in an audi who were racing a friend of mine in his prelude (they won) he was just ****** around w/ them cuz they were cute. They told him he should've bought a better car so I yelled " you didn't even give his car a chance for the VTEC to kick in!"
