Default C6's Everywhere!

Man I was going home last night from the shop and ANOTHER C6 6m Silver, VERY NICE, was on my ***. We catch a light and he is just a half a car up so he did not have to look over at me. I hear the slightest revs, Im sure all stock. Light goes green and I leave slow and so does he. He then punches it just through the first 30 ft. I reel him in spinning my *** off, spin like a bitch through 2nd passing him and through 3rd, I put about .......seriuosly, 7-8 lenghts.....and he just let off. I let off and just shifted to 6th and cruised. He pulls up next to me 3-4 minutes later, I gave him a thumbs up, he just stares at me. I simply mouthed N I C E C A R....I love those Vettes! Moody bitch...

Good kill. Unfortunately, not everybody that can afford to buy a new Vette realizes its not the fastest thing on the road.

how true

there's more to owning a vette than speed, though. they're only designed to be a little faster than an f-body. they corner about 1,000 times better, look amazing, are far more comfortable and luxurious, handle a hell of a lot better in the rain and snow and are light and have great weight distribution.

the camaro/firebird have always been the drag cars. that's why vettes are touring cars, not sports cars. ask the insurance companies. vettes aren't classified as sports cars and are cheaper to insure. they hate that

Umm...you tried to insure a new Vette lately? Trust me when I tell you they are classified as "high risk" sports cars. I had a nice little local TX insurance company for all my stuff...bought the Vette, added it thinking no problem. 2 months later I get a notice to take my **** somewhere else. They wanted to keep my house, other 2 cars and 2 motorcycles of course, but they wouldn't insure the Vette. In classic pissed off fashion, I took the other $6000/yr of insurance premiums away from them too. If they didn't want one, they don't get the others. They seem shocked when I cancelled everything else...go figure. Think it depends on the insurance company.

Jay...damn it, I've got to set you up with a good C6 run...you seem to find all the stock bastards with azzhole drivers. I love my Vette for the street with all it's utility, but a 9" Ford is the only way to fly in the 1/4 (of course a 4-link also helps with the traction). Although, I'm getting a few tweaks in August and with the ET Streets...hope to pull off low 11s...maybe even bust 11s with the right weather in the fall...of course, I'll have to rent the track to get more than one run in anyway!

No offense but you'll have your hands full with a stock one. Nice kill BTW.

read the entire thread. it's a whole thread dedicated to WS6 and vette insurance rates. a vette is cheaper. it's not a sports car.

i don't "trust you" because i've seen rate comparisons. young punks don't buy vettes. they're not high risk cars. the average vette owner is a middle aged man.

I tend to agree, but he if he is not used to seeing a car right beside him, he may get nervous and screw up, I wont. Now, I run across one with 520 RWHP, like a few around on these posts....dinner is served, who likes snake? Until then, Im very optomistic.

Very true, most vette owners are waxers. Keep the kills coming, you've been getting some good ones lately.

You're actually going to try to correct somebody that is currently insuring a Vette?

You do realize that rates change from company to company right? Theres not one set rate for age groups across the board.

Thats the Choco we're all used to though.

I'll let your non-trust go since you just had a birthday...but seriously . I own a Vette...an LS2 Vette...you're not reading my post or my profile. The LS2, i.e. 400hp...is a whole different category than an LS1 F-body. Also, see the last sentence in my insurance post...these classifications are company/state specific. I went with Travelers, and they did not classify it as a "high risk" car...it's not universal (thank God). I don't want to pay $600/mth for insurance on a car...my friend with the no-driving wife has to do it, and it doesn't look fun.

For 20 you don't seem to be a "young punk" as you describe...at least you found some "facts" from the board, but I'm telling you what happened to me...not rate comparisons...a go fudge yourself letter from my insurer, complete with explanation and classification of the car.

I'm 33, so I guess I'm middle-aged...if I die fairly young . I remember knowing more than everybody else at age 20 to though...so happy birthday anyway!!!

I'll call my insurance company and straighten them out with the comparisons you quoted!!!!

Stock Z (tuned maybe) would be a good run with a good driver. Would love to see your car on video!!!

Progressive wanted an extra $75 a month for an LS1 vette for me. Of course starting at $26,000 for one with decent miles, I was only dreaming anyways.

I wish you would tell my insurance company that all my vettes were not sports cars and cost less to insure. I could save some money!!

Nice kill. C6 vette are quick.

Insurance. My z06 in 2001 when I was 24 was > $5000 a year for the vette and my 87 Turbo Buick together. Now, I'm 29 and it is $3000 a year full coverage $500 deduct for both cars. The vette is more expensive to insure than the buick, by about 2.5 times I think. I don't look too closely, it is too painful to see what I pay every month for my car habit...
