Default Cobalt SS S/C

Pretty obvious from the get go but thought I would waste your time anyways.

I was sitting at a stop light when I saw the Black Cobalt SS pull out ahead of me and pick up speed. So as soon as the light changed I started off after him. The guy noticed me coming and slowed down a bit until I caught up. So we were side by side at around 35mph and I asked him if he had ever taken it to the track. He said he had and ran a best of 13.7... I was a bit confused and asked "Stock?".. he claimed that it was. Since I was looking to buy one when they first came out I knew the best times were in the mid 14s last I had heard and didn't believe him. After searching online again it seems 14.2 is the best ET for a bone stock one so it was pretty obvious the guy was clueless or lying about mods.

So I was sitting in 2nd gear at the time and decided to see what he had... I should have dropped to 1st but didn't honestly think it was needed.

For a second he was right next to me and obviously was sitting in his powerband because the front of his car lifted as the suspension unloaded and he was making a lot of noise. I unfortunately had a very ho-hum take off (started below 3,000Rpm)... and I think for a moment the guy thought I was going to be an easy race. Once the ol rpms started to come up I started pulling away and before I shifted to 3rd I had at least a car length and growing. I hit the brakes and gave him a thumbs up (Have to give respect...) he waved on the way by and turned off at the stoplight ahead.

All and all a fun race but nothing to worry about. I kind of miss all the close races I had in the LT1 when it was stock. Definately glad I didn't go with the Cobalt though... I know I would be kicking myself had i been in his shoes.

They're capable of reaching 13.7 with the Stage 1 package.

13.7 with a pretty good driver i don't think stage one even comes with the 3.0 inch pulley. Just a reflash and injectors.

hey sorry to hijack thread but does anyone think that a cobalt ss with a 2.7 pulley, exhaust, cai, tune, and injectors could beat a stock 03 Z06? this kid in the area says he did and i think it's total bs.

03 Z06 - Ive seen 11.8 @ 117 or 118 from a stock Z06 around here. A low of low 12s @ 116mph. I really don't see a 2.7 pulley, exhaust, cai, tune and injectors being any better than a low 13.... maybe high 12? Unless Im crazy.
