Dead spot at 35Mph??
Hey,
I was just wondering if you guys have a dead spot when taking off at 35mph. I definitley have one their the other day i took off from 30, 35, and 40, and noticed i took off alot faster from 40 and 30 then from 35.
So do you guys have dead spots like this, will a torque converter get rid of these.

I gotta say, I love my A4, since it does everything I want to do "most of the time", without me having to shift. But that *dead spot* is annoying as hell! I've been putting off getting a stall for some time, but it just feels "broken".

gGetting rid of the stock 2.73s wil get rid of that to which it sounds ike you have them. It is the bottom of second and sucks mine drops first at exactly 35 then will just roll in second if im any higher its sucks but i would change gearing first before stall just my opinion.

Ok, lets get this out of the way. It all depends on what gears you have, as to where you should roll from. If you have 2.73's the dead spot will be ~38. If you have 3.23's the dead spot will be ~35. Check your door RPO codes on the door to see which you have. GU4 is 2.73 and GU5 is 3.23. I believe. Check the Stickies. Yes a stall will help a whole hell of a lot. Usually you select one based on the gearing/cam/etc. Call a shop, they'll help you decide. Ideally you would buy one to compliment the other.
The best place to start out from varies by your gears. But generally a 25mph punch will do it. If not try for a 60-70+ roll. That puts you in the top of the powerband either in first or second, depending. The only problem with the 25 punch is that you still have to deal with the dead spot at the bottom of second.
Hope that helped.

You have 305 posts and just now realized you have a dead spot from 30 to 50??!!
I have 3.23 gears, yeah it just sucks that most racing comes from a 30-50 roll.
