Default trans am vs. subaru legacy or outback wagon...SUPER CLOSE

Tonight I got in one of the closest races yet. I was at a red light when this subaru legacy or outback not for sure. It had a big hood scoop on it and other then that it looked stock. There was an older guy driving who looked to be in his mid 40's maybe 50s. once the light turned green I heard him dump his clutch and he caught me off guard I didnt even know he wanted to race. Once he dumped it I immediately punched it while still in first and my car hooked up so good and was pullin sooo hard and when I looked over he wasnt goin anywere Once I shifted to 2nd I gradually started pullin on him but not enough to make me feel good. This subaru was pretty damn fast this guy had to have something done to his car. It sounded like a sleeper and everything but it sounded like he was pullin 9000 rpms when he was beside me. Even tho I won it was too close for comfort and was really disappointing considering it was a STATION WAGON! I bet that guy makes all the mustangs around here feel like ****

Sounds like you ran into a Forrester. They run the same engine as the WRX. Pretty neat lil cars and they can be modded just like th WRX. There is one here that runs mid tolow 13's. Good kill.

You do have an LS1 right? I have been next to many of them things on the street and have never once seen one that could pull like you describe. I do know that you can put an STI motor in them fairly easily but that is still 4500+ pounds to move. I think the guy hit you with N20 or something. Nice kill though.

the new legacy gt's have a hood scoop and have the same motor as the sti's minus forged pistons or something like that. Those things can be really quick with the adddition of some extra boost and exhaust/intake.

Could have been the WRX wagon. There's lots of them around here, and they take all the regular mods. They also have the hood scoop. I had a white one do the ricer flyby past me when I accellerated hard onto the highway and passed him. Then he did the other ricer thing and wouldn't make eye contact or go again.

There also the new Legacy Spec B, but its not keeping up with an LS1 without serious mods.

The Brits actually got an STi version too. Id like to find the people that decide what cars go where and start smashing toes untill they consent to send all the Aussie RWD V8s, Japanese turbo cars, German Diesels, British unheard offs, etc to the US. The GM cataloge worldwide alone would do wonders to show the US public just how much fun some of their cars are.

WRX Wagon was probably what it was , prob had some basic mods along with the driver mod.

I was thinking about getting one for a daily driver.

Most likely was a Legacy/Outback Wagon. 2.5 liter flat four with 250 hp stock and stg2 kicks it up to 305hp 345tq.

Great cars.

Didn't look like this did it:

Although I'm not sure you guys get it in the US.

It's a Forrester Sti Spec something. Damn fast, think it's 3.0 litre turbo or something. Over 300bhp and has active diffs from the drivers seat, think you can make it so its almost rwd if you want.

Pretty sure it was faster around the same race circuit than a regular Impreza Sti

Close.. It was less then a second slow then the Impreza STi. Slower into the turns but faster out of them. Alot of people are taking the normal Forester and bolting the STi drivetrain into it. A few have tried to import a real STi Forrester but you know how hard that is. It's cheaper and easier to just build one.

Legacy Spec-b has been released in the US. I believe 500 are being sold but if I'm not mistaking they are nothing more then a Legacy GT with nicer interers and wheels. Motor wise I believe they are the same. Don't quote me on that but I know the dealership near me has one.

Because you weren't breastt fed? Or maybe because your daddy spanked you too much? :-)
