Cruising through town and there is some guy in a silver GTO riding my ***... at first i thought it was a G6 or whatever they are called, and i figured it was some guy just ******* with me. Road breaks into a two lane road and I'm in 3rd gear at about 35- 40 mph, he swerves to the side so i punch it. He walked right by me but I was nowhere near my powerband. As soon as i got into my powerband i started to pull back in, but it was a red light. So i stop.. he gets next to me, I went to ask him for a real run... and the light turns green and he floors it, so i go around the car in front of me, spinning 1st, 2nd, hit third get traction, but my exit was coming up so i slowed down.

I'm pretty sure i spotted the 6.0 badge on the back, I wish they hadn't sped off I would have liked a real run. Oh well... death... i supose.

If he was stock, they're easily beatable. My car "stock" (ported TB, Lid, filter and tune) was whooping up on 04 Vettes and 04 GTO's at the track. Had them by more than 2 mph each run...usually a tenth or more ahead of them.

big diff from 04 gto and 05 gto ls2 gtos can run bottom 13s if they get traciton and are hella good shifters.

the ls1 GTOs 04s were always running higher 13s when i watched them

350 hp but they weight 3700 lbs i belive atleast the ls2 got the 50 hp bump to help push the weight along.

if you got 315s on and your only real mod is long tubes, you need to learn to launch if you coudlnt get yourself traction even in 2nd. i know your a m6 and all but lol your not pushing but probly the same hp as me you should be able to grab in second without 2 much trouble. if i can grab with 18's 265s you can grab with your 315s

good run though. have you been to a track? if so what do you trap? if he got a good jump on you and you was doing all this spinning i wouldnt see you stopping his pull and pulling back to quickly unless he let off or he was having traction issue also

I had kind of the same situation, one come up on me on the highway the other week and would get on it then i'd hit it stop his pull and he'd let off, so i jus gave up and I'm sure he told all his buddys he beat a trans am's ***, but o well..i wouldnt really consider it a death lol

The 315's are Sumitomo's... they suck... and like i said I was reeling him in once i got into my power band. Then he let off and so did I because we had a light coming up.

Yeah I ran a 12.9 trapping 112. With spinning.

Like I said... I'm almost positive it had a 6.0 badge... and I have raced LS2 GTO's from a standstill before and beat them. I'm sure some of you that are older than me could outdrive me but I can drive my car well. I was disapointed with my track time actually as I have driven my uncles LS1 M6 SS with the same mods but better tires to 12.4's.


These sumitomo's were cheap and are good for handling, rain and such. No good for traction. Better tires, maybe 15" rims and a rear end are coming spring time before I go nuts on this car.

Oh well...

If it is a 6.0, its a little better but if its the LS1 I can understand the title of I guesssee.

It's a good race between a LS1 F-Bod and LS2 GTO stock for stock but I give the edge to the LS2 on top end based off what I've seen down here at sea level.

almost all ls2 trap high. 108-110 range stock. they just seem to be hard to launch and shift.

fibaddo your uncle has a freak of a freak if he ran 12.4 with just lts. thats hauling ***. m6 or not. or had a Very Low DA that day.

i wish i could run at a track that could get a sub 500 DA lol i ran in 90+ heat with 70 % humidity around 8 pm at night lol... DA was high as hell for a track at beech bend 480 ft above sea level and the DA was over twice that rofl.

I ran as fast as 13.002
(there's "Stock" gto's out there that have gotten into the 12's)
and trapped as fast as 109x last year (2005 gto, cat back and air filter)

everyone gets a bad run, I've beat 12 second cars (on occasion)


but then again, I've run a 35 sec 1320 (in safe mode)





I would say your car, and a GTO with a good driver will end up being a "Drivers race"

that's assuming the GTO is bone stock

Well... found out more about the car... It was a twin turbo LS1 GTO making well over 600rwhp. I'm guessing It didn't go all out. Oh well I am humbled.
