Raced an Audi A8 4.2
Those things claim a 6.3 0-60, well today one pulled on me at about 40 MPH. I was in second gear and couldn't back to first. I punched it and held on, he got about a foot on me between 40-50, then between 50 and 80 I put 5-6 cars on him. I pulled over in front of him because the road split and slowed down to 65, he of course, did the famous fly by!

I have to fight back for the A8 just a bit, being an ex Audi tech and all. For such a huge car they are pretty fun to drive. Depending on what year and options they have the performance can very greatly. Driving down a highway at 80 you won't find a nicer ride though. The base 4.2 came in varying formats from high 280 hp to 345hp. There is also the W12 version which is basically to VR6 motors tied together. I can't remember the exact output on that one, but I think it was mid 400's. The new S8 has a version of a Lambo v10 with near 500hp. But forget about that, the A8 is not about peak performance, it's about the total package. Fully aluminum frame that is head and shoulders above anything else in production. If they actually tested cars in that price range for impact and safety, it would be handed the title as the safest car on the road. If you want peak performance, drive the old RS6 or the new RS4.

Most cars are setup for 0 to 60 times to make good sales with USA buyers. Take the WRX. 1st and 2nd gear are setup to give you the best 0 to 60 times. 0-60 mph :5.2 sec yet only finished the 1/4 at 91mph. It's all hype with these 0 to 60 times. Never go by that.

I wasn't going by anything other than how badly I beat him. When I got home I looked at pics and specs and was surprised to find out it was supposed to be a good performer. I don't make a habit of racing anybody, but when he pulled on me I couldn't help.
