Default Beat a mustang Gt but am I running slow

It was a 2006 gt, nice looking car, guy said it was stock. We go from a 20 roll (didn't want to squeal the tires to much cause cops might be around that road) I put about 3 car lenghts on him by 80, he had a car lenght ahead of me at first cause I did have a bit of tire spin. My cutout was open and other than that, all I have is a SLP lid. But I have two questions.

1. should I have beaten him by more

2. from a dig what should the results be

That sounds about right. My Z (SLP lid only) put about 3-4 lengths from about a 40 roll on an '06 auto GT that was stock (the guy had just bought the car). We went for one dig run. He got a half car lead at first (I believe they have 3.55 gears and I was still on the stock 3.42) but by second I was walking away.

3 lengths at 80 sounds pretty good to me for the mods you have! I think by 100+ you would have added at least one more.

I would think it would be a little closer too. The new GT's are capable of low 13's.

That's stretching it. While I'm sure it's happened, it's not what 90%
of people would run in a stock '05+ Mustang GT. Mid 13's and up
are more realistic.

^^ Agreed. I ran a new GT at the track when my transmission was going out(slipping and all). I cut a horrible time , I believe I ran a 14.3 and I still pulled ahead to his 14.6 . Even the new Rouch was runnung 14s, but it could have been a fake or just a stage one. I don't know a lot about the mustangs only that if I were to get one it would be a 03-04 Cobra, or at least the Mach-1. Also a 20mph roll race is not a very good spot to race from in our A4s, so your Kill sounds really good to me.

Whoa...14.6? I think I could push a '05 GT down the 1320 faster
than that. The GT's with an auto transmission are complete roaches.
Manual trans cars are much better in terms of ET. 13.80's is what I'd
expect from a decent driver in a '05 GT (manual trans).

The gentlemens car was an auto and it was his first time out with the New GT. Soooooo a driver mod would have changed the outcome.

The second run I agreed to line up with him again since he asked if I would run him again. We talked in the pits and he wanted to see if he could inprove on his launch(he was a little dissapointed with the run especially after he saw that I was not running as good as most F-bodies should cause my tranny). So I line up at the tree with him and my car starts to shake and jitter and jerk off the line, needless to say my car's tranny was toast and he took the easy victory. Sorry I Hijacked the thread

Good run! Sounds like your car is running fine to me.

I think it all depends on the specific car and definitely ALOT on the driver. I remember when the 05 GT's first came out there was a guy at the track with a vortech blown GT. He was going around the pits showing everyone his 430rwhp dyno sheet and then he couldn't break out of the 13's all day, lol. Then there are the guys that will throw 4 bolt-ons at one and hit 12's constsiently. It all depends.

I HATE HATE HATE using magazine times, but even Motor Trend got a 13.6 out of an automatic '05 GT. The new 3.55s and 5spds really help them out. The shift firmness is also better than the AOD-E or 4R70-W

Same here.

I'm basing my opinion on my personal experience in driving them and
comparing them to my stock A4 '00 Z28. My Camaro ran 13.6 @ 105mph
stock. The auto GT's I've driven would've been raped by it. Just my 2 cents.
