Default 94 383 z28 vs. 07 GT500

Was pretty stoked to say the least when this car caught me at a light. we came around the corner at the light, (dual turn lane) and jumped on it, i spun ALOT i mean sideways through 1st and 2nd, he pulled a fair amount. i caught back up launched from a roll spun again and he jumped out front. lined up and launched again and i spun but this time we went for a little longer and i felt like i was realing him in. and we got on it one last time and once again i spun and he jumped out.

each race he would pull so his rear bumper was pretty much clear of my front, maybe a little more but i kept shutting down after a gear or gear and a half. because i couldnt hook up. he seemed to be having a much better time getting traction than i was, thats for sure.

i chatted with him briefly, nice guy, he said in had 1000 miles on it, (i thought to myself damn already beating on it ) was completely stock and he just paid 50k for it.

was pretty fun to say the least except i kept feeling cheated by getting no traction! i have tons of suspension just dont have the tire i think. my mods are in my sig(well the major ones atleast). i thought it should have been a nose to nose race but i kept spinning and he kept getting the good launch. guess it just happens that way sometimes.

If you kept spinning in the low gears why keep letting off, surly runing to higher speeds would have one made a better race of it and secondly been better for you

You'd walk his *** if that 383 is a half decent motor with a good set of heads and a nice cam in it.....traction provided that is.

Those new Condors are no joke. Be careful. They run low 12s with a good driver and capable of 10s with bolt-ons and sticky tires. Check the articles in MMFF of actual tests if you would like some reading/education. These heavy GT500s are faster than you would expect. I love my terminator but i think the Shelby is getting a bit of a bad rap based on it's weight and dealer mark-up. It carries it's weight pretty damn well and if it went for the suggested retail price, would be a pretty good deal.

Keep an open mind and research facts before thinking the GT500 is a heavy snail.

yeah the motor is badass in the car, the cam is nice but i agree the heads lack somewhat, i know 383's are capable of over 420ish rwhp with good heads. but id like to line up with him with a set of mt's. i think he'd have his hands full then.

Your car definitely sounds pretty stout. Some sticky tires would be a good investment it seems.

Better heads would definitely wake that motor up. I wouldn't be surprised if you saw 450+ rwhp peak numbers, but power all through the RPM range would be improved as well. What are your cam specs?

Dam I'd love a shot at smacking one down, I do not have the traction issues you do and would like to see the look on his face!

Hahaha, I'm gonna start using that term.
I love those cars, but I feel like I must lash out at them because of their stealership pricing.

Lol, my advice ii sget some drag radials or slicks. Im in the same situation, if I run someone from a slow roll, its actually pretty close because all I do is spin. I was looking at getting a nitrous kit as well, but I figured I need traction more than I need more power, so I ordered some MT et streets.

It was actually 11.20s on DRs if I remember corectly with the car spinning. Thus the reason they indicated slicks would get the car into the 10s...full weight.

Yep. Condor seems to be the name for the GT500.
