02 camaro vs. early 90's Talon
so, This race hasn't happened yet but, what mods would it take for an early 90's talon to beat my 2002 z28 with longtubes, true duals, SLP flow pac (lid, smooth bellow, ram air, and filter) , MS4 with tune, and 3500 stall? We have this guy talking **** that says he has some "head work" and other mods. To bad I dont have a camera. I know its not a kill story yet but I wanted some funny posts just for the hell of it.
the cam and stall are waiting to be put in, and he thinks anything over 600 lift is a waste.
what do you guys think?

Well I believe it's gonna take quite a bit, not exactly sure how much for him to even keep up with you. Stock his car is in the 15's. And if he does have enough power to beat you then his car will probably break as soon as he gets by you. haha. Talons are pieces of crap.

My friends bone stock Tsi went 14.7. AWD launch is pretty nasty, even stock. If he has headwork and his "other mods" have anything to do with upping boost alot (i.e.) an aftermarket turbo you could have a race on your hands. There was a website and I dont know if its still up but a guy took a Talon or a Laser and spent around $2000 in it and had it in the 11s.

Which technically is true, but far from descriptive. Dont put money on the race.

DSM's take a hell of a lot more than $2K to break into the 11's. Things literally break, like trannys, transfer cases, driveshafts, clutches, way before you're in the 11's, more like low 14's. They are pieces of crap. And then of course there's the crank walk issues that you have to worry about. On your way to the 11's you'll go through at least one motor.
And once you upgrade everything, they still break. Its a **** poor quality car, Chrysler quality with Mitsubishi engineering. Worst of both worlds.

ewwww. I hate Talon ESi's. The TSi atleast looks a little better with actual wheels and a different front clip and the bigger spoiler. And that's the newer style from 95 to whenever they stopped production of Talons, was it 98? I know the Eclipses that style went to 99 but I've never seen that new of a Talon, the newest I've seen is probably a 97. But either way, they are pretty hideous. And yes Talons are crappy, my friend just informed me the other night that the motor locked up on his 93 and it has less than 90,000 miles on it and it's stock.
