Default My 01 ss vs. 1999-04 gt 5-speed

Well I was on my way back from circuit city last night when a black 5-speed mustang GT that was super loud got on my tail. He proceeded to do about 5 fly-bys to me but I couldn't do anything because I was stuck behind traffic. So finally we get towards the edge of town and I get next to him doing about 45 mph. I was kind of worried because I had only been driving a stick for a little over a week now, and as loud as his car was I wasn't sure what was done to it.

We were sitting there pacing each other at about 45 mph so I dropped it down into 2nd and was gonna go for the 3-honk deal. Well after the first honk he took off so I did too. I instantly started gaining on him even though he got the jump. By the time I shifted into 3rd I was about a fender ahead then I pulled a couple cars in 3rd and slowed down.

So we get up to a stop light and he's like "hey nice car what do you have done to it?" I said "It's stock for now because I just bought it last week." And it looked like someone just kicked him in the ***** lol. He said he had headers, catback, cai and a couple other minor bolt-ons.

My car is a 2001 ss 6-speed.

yes. would need full bolt on w/ gears full exhuast and a healthy tune for a 99-04 gt to keep pace w/ a stock ls1 from a roll

right on the money with that statement. My buddy as an 00 with headers x pipe catback. intake pulleys and 3.73's. If we start the race at 40. he stays with me untill about 60 65 and than ease him out and begin to pull away. not at any crazy fast pace but i do end up leaving him.

2V's will wake up with a set of 4.10's or 4.30's Full exhaust and a decent DR. Seen a few GT's run 12.9's with just 4.30's, a DR, O/R midpipe, catback and some suspension work.

However, give the LS1 some mods and it's over.

I love stangs as much as the next guy, but that I'd have to see. That's on the stock clutch?

Yup on the stock clutch. Bill Putnam was running 11's with just bolt ons and cams with his 00 GT

Gracias. I just blew the **** out of my motor (dropped a valve in cyl. #2, and disintegrated the piston), so we'll see what setup I come back with. MIGHT just be a stock 4v motor, but it could be a ported head/cammed 2V

I ran a 02 GT 5-speed with CAI/Cat-back (or mufflers, not sure) and from 40 he got the hit and by 100 there were 2 cars worth of daylight between our bumpers I guess that is 4 cars? (1 from me being beside him, 2 between us, and 1 to put him beside me again?)

Sounds about like how I did. My car runs normal *yay*

Stock 2V pistons suck ****. I dont know how you dropped a valve though. Could it have been the other way around? Piston desintegrated and took the valve with it?

Yeah, and trap 102-3mph. Anything but a dig run and they are TOAST!
