I don't doubt the 4 valve Cobras one bit. Two of my friends have them, one a 96 the other a 98. Both of them with similar mods one with 96 with 4:30s the 98 with headers and 4:10's. They scream I love driving them.

Why wouldn't the cobra be stock? He stated he punched it after the cobra did, he's also and auto with 2.73's...Cobras are high 13 second cars stock and so are 2.73 auto ls1s. Sounds about right to me.

You can take a stock 99-01 N/A Cobra and it will run 12's with 4.10's or 4.30's and traction.

A GT from 96-98 will trap 94mph...

I'd say it takes a little more than that. Kingsnake99 has cams, ported tb, exhaust, 4.10's, ford racing clutch and flywheel, and he only beat a GT that runs low 13's by like 2-3 cars. And a 96-98 is not a 13 second car stock. They pull low-mid 14's.

If you pull mid 14s in a 96-98 Cobra, you either can't drive or you live at high elevation. They are 13s cars... it's just that most of them have 14s drivers.

Yeah but either way, they're a waste of money. I've only found a couple as low as the $8000 range, and that's for a 96. That's worthless. You could get an LS1 for cheaper and they're faster.

Sorry, bad wording on my part. I meant in stock for they don't impress me. Once modded, that's a different story.

Yeah but why waste so much more on a slower car, when obviously you're buying it for speed?

I picked my 99 Cobra over an F-body. Does that make me a moron?

Its been done before, I never said it didn't take a good launch and tires to get there. And it takes someone with no mechanical sympathy!

Personally I like '96-'98 Cobras over any Mustang made past '71, and it's not purely for speed. I just like the look and sound of the car, and alot of other people do too. I'd take a Competition Orange '98 Cobra, dropped 2", 18" Saleens, LTs, 4.30s, and be a very happy camper. I wouldn't really care that the WS6 in the next lane is probably faster than me, because I am in the car I wanted. I wanted a WS6 before I bought my car, but I've found that I enjoy my car just as much as I would a stock WS6, even though the WS6 is quite a bit faster. Obviously performance is not the only consideration when buying even a performance car for most people... then the F-body would have sold more than the Mustang. I'm not a "Mustang person," but I can definitely see why you would buy a '96-98 Cobra over an F-body, cuz I'd probably do the same thing. And btw, I don't think anybody would look at the Cobra that I mentioned that I would like to have and think, "that thing doesn't belong at the track."

Nice kill TuffGuy610. Your buddy must be a pretty good driver. When i was stock i beat a '96 cobra by 3 cars from a 20 roll up to 80. The guy had exhaust maybe more, but i don't know.
