Default How do new GT's compare?

Well, I've been hanging around the mustang forums seeing what the enemy is up to, and over there they say a new GT is a drivers race between an LS1 and a new edge GT is a drivers race between an LT1, is this true?

The LS1 would beat the GT if properly driven.

Why do you consider ford the enemy? No one really cares about the GT on that side because the terminator more then takes care of the "fued" Btw the GT is a good race for the LS1 but only w/ the drive by wire crap taken care of. A good running LS1 is still faster, though not by much and a new GT will kill a LT1 stock for stock.

Raced a 06 GT in my Trailblazer SS (tune, cai and catback) and pulled him by 1.5 - 2 car lengths to about 100mph. Don't know if the Mustang was stock or not, but it was a manual tranny.

Haven't taken my Trailblazer to the track yet so I have no idea what times or trap speeds it runs. From what I have seen on the Trailblazer SS boards, my setup should trap around 101-103mph.

Stock for stock, a 05+ GT vs LS1 is a good match up. The LS1 will almost always have the edge, but not by a lot at all. That's why In most cases It is a drivers race. Mod for mod, they still run pretty closely to each other, again giving the upper hand to the LS1.

I don't know anything about the LT1 besides power numbers. But from my personal experience, they do run close with New Edge GT's. I know that from experience. I raced a bolt on LT1 in my bone stock New Edge GT when I had it. We raced 3 times and I won all 3. But the races were CLOSE! I can't exactly remember his mods, but I know he had atleast a lid and exhaust for sure. And I didn't beat the driver because it was an automatic and had a shift kit.

LT1's don't have lids. Only the 98 and newer F-bodies do.

I have raced 6 new stangs ( all call outs), and have beaten each one, my only mod is an intake, they are quite quick and I could see them being a drivers race for an LS1, but properly driven, the LS1 takes it, especially up top

I beat one pretty badly but it looked new and I could hear the driver shifting slower than hell. Stock for stock the LS1 should have a noticeable edge, but with a CAI and tune, they can pick up as much as 25hp.

I saw an Auto S197 at my terrible track (time in sig) with cai, tune, u/d pullies running 13.6-13.7. he was consistently better than me. They respond much bettter to mods than the previous GT.

IMO, the GTs are worthy enemies again.

Hi guys sorry to highjack but headed home from work this morning I was revved by a saleen. I revved back and he backed off. My car was/is louder than his. I don't know if that had something to do with it. Now was that a real saleen or a new gt with a body kit? It had paper plates that said saleen, all black and was stick(I heard it when it drove off) Is there such thing? Are they fast? Would he had wooped me? 00z28 bolt-ons minus intake.

i raced one in the 1/8th.... he launched a lot better then me and pulled about 2 cars...

by the end of the 1/8th i was at his bumper... my car only had intake/exhaust

i would've caught him and won if it had been a 1/4 mile run...

should be a win for an LS1 if the driving is equal or better... no doubt

They are alot better than the new edge GT's but an ls1 should handle a new GT every time. Stock for stock. Its a close race tho.

I ran a stock GT in my SS when i just had a lid and cutout and i pulled him very easily. The guy said he ran a 13.8. I've also ran a bolton GT in my bolton SS and i was noticebly faster!

and yes a new edge gt and lt1 is a drivers race.

Well a stock for stock my ls4 will slowly walk a new GT. From a stop if the GT drive could launch he would beat me. But again on a roll the LS4 will slowly pull.

i have beaten all of the GT's i have ran from a stop or dig. LS1 powered cars i have always lost from a roll but always won from a stop. so i would say you just need launch with the new mustangs and you will pull them all day uptop.
