Default killed a 96 stang

i was coming down hwy 64 in cleveland,TN when a silver mustang came up be side me. He rev up then took off. He slowed back down beside me. I motioned him to slow down to 45 mph. Then 3 beeps i pulled him 1 1/2 in second gear. Then i pulled him 3 more cars from 65 to 115 mph then i slowed down. I pulled over at the next store he followed. He said he a shorty headers,X-pipe,flowmasters,CAI, Intake ported, light weight flywheel, and 3.73 his car was a 5speed. I was in a 94 TA LT's,4in-y,flowmasters,CAI, foil, pulleys,160*,3.73,throttle bypass, mine was a A4. 45mph roll is perfect for me. It puts me a 4200 rpm in 2nd he never had a chance

Good Kill. He starts it you finish it. Cool guy for talking after the race. Sounds good to me. I'm sure he is putting down more power then stock with those mods so scratch that 195rwhp out. ^^

Ya those pre 99 GT's really struggle. Even with mods. I had a few friends with them and they were just dogs.
Good kill

Its been two years since i've owned my Mustang. It was a 96 GT convertible. I really thought i was the ****. I know better now that I have my 98 Trans Am. Thank you, GM, and my friends, for helping me see the light.

*ok, flame suit on for the Stang guys... i know a Cobra will kick my ***, i know where i stand, and i DIDNT know where i stood in my 4.6 GT. Maybe thats the problem, people in those cars (for the most part) dont really KNOW where they stand in the food chain, I didnt.*

I'm assuming it was a '96 2v GT, which are nothing to brag about. A '96 4v Cobra with those mods should have given you a better run.

It all depends on which bolt-ons you choose... if one of those bolt-ons is the intake manifold from a 99-04 car, you can see 250rwhp with bolt-ons. Still not that great, but the intake manifold is the most cost-effective power for those cars.

The guy in the 96 had 4 power mods done to his car, shorty headers,X-pipe,flowmasters,CAI, Intake ported. The ported intake is probably a ported stock plenum. He's lucky if he is gettin 200 hp to the ground.

Word^, Never relized they were that slow. I almost bought one, would still be fun to have but would take a lot of work to go fast.

Yeah, I had a '98 GT... it was definitely not the quickest pony in the stable, but it had potential. With ~$500 in modifications (and quite a bit of labor) I was up in the 230-235rwhp range (educated guess), and I was one of the lucky few that got 3.27s in the late '98 cars, so it wasn't TOO bad.

AWww Poop. I feel bad for those guys. They really got to do a lot of work to get them to move. Everyone that does get them going fast usually is Supercharged or motor swapped? or what?

Well I had done the cams/intake manifold from a '99 when I changed my headgaskets, and I got them for DIRT cheap, so that was basically a free ~30-35rwhp. PI (99-04) heads/cams/intake swap is what alot of people are doing, which put you up to ~240rwhp with no other mods. In perspective, a PI-swapped car with my mods would be putting out close to 280rwhp, because of the higher compression (~10.1:1 vs. 9.3:1).
