Looking for some suspension tips for hooking on pavement
Here's what I'm up against. We have local street races a couple times a month at a few local airports. It supposed to be street legal cars only but there are a few iffy cars there. I should be able to run with the majority of them but they're killing me out of the hole. Some runs I'm not hooking up until 3rd gear. I'm baby launching at 2k about half throttle and after I get rolling I get into it and break loose right away. I played with suspension and tire pressure all day with no better results. here's my setup: hoosier qtp's 27x11.5x15, bmr lca's, relocation brackets in lowest setting, spohn 1" rear sway bar, bmr phb, bmr extreme ta set at -2, qa1's at 5 in rear and qa1 r's at 2 in front, 315lb springs in front. I started at 15lb pressure and went down to 12 by the end of the day. Rear end is a 9" w/3.50 gears, th400 tranny with a yank pt4000, motor is a fairly stout 408 solid roller that I'd guess around 700 at the crank. These runs are all NA. If I can hook on motor I can't see spraying it. Most of the other cars that are hooking are fully tubbed cars with alot of tire under them. I know it's never going to hook like the track but I should be able to do better with my suspension.

I've done that before, he probably was browsing around thinking about his problem and didn't realize what forum he was in when he posted it.... then again this is the street racing section and he is talking about having problems hooking up on the street
Uhhhh... VHT & Torch.... + A couple burnouts to lay rubber. If you watch some street races alot of time both guys will do 3 or 4 long smoky burnouts (only if they have DR's) over a nice little distance to lay down some rubber with the VHT, then the torch makes for a real nice hook.
Thats a lot of prep for a street race though....

I always wondered if you could mount a VHT sprayer somewhere and use it as you do a burnout. Probably would not work, but you could do just one long burnout and get the prep that way, without anyone knowing
The real solution is get an A4

i would drop the tire pressure even lower, maybe around 9 or 10 b/c once you heat them up they are going to expand and the air pressure is going to go up. either that or put some KY jelly on the tires......maybe?

You should throw some weight in the back. Start at 50lbs and move up until you hook. And if you have adjustable shocks loosen the front all the way to transfer weight and put the back at 1 or 2. I have the same shocks and that is where i put it when i race.
