Default 99 STS SS vert vs 01 Z06

So I met up with Doug tonight down in Irving. Nice to meet you btw.

403rwhp with a moderate Cam 2001 Z06...race weight 3250.

VS.

My STS SS Camaro (vert w/ large a$$ stereo system in trunk)...race weight 3950. I know...that's a huuggge bitch.

1st run...ran from 40mph+...I missed 3rd gear

2nd run...ran from 55mph+...pulled him by 1/2 a car maybe...he started in 3rd and I was in 2nd. (I was wondering when the hell you were going to shift! )

3rd run...ran from 40mph - 120ish...pulled by 1/2 to full car (his front bumper was at my rear)

4th run...ran from 45ish - 120ish...pulled him by a full car...maybe a tad more. Last race, maybe I got the jump a little, let Doug be the judge. But when I let off, I had around a car length in between us (I think).

By the 4th run, the turbo, etc was completely warmed up and I had some extra power I think.

Anyhow, Doug...had to post it, hope you don't mind. You're a cool guy and I'm glad to meet you! Your car is ridiculously badass! I can't help but think weight had a serious play in the outcome though. Sorry the stupid camera didn't work !!!

Dan

FYI, I posted this in the Texas section as well b/c that's where a bunch of d-bags say STS kits are worth crap. Doug (Z06) emailed me asking for a friendly get together so I called him up and met him.

Goes to show you how much weight affects a car. I had to go to a KB (now Whipple) before pulling on our Z06 with my Cobra our Z06 is about 400whp. Nice run, how much power you making?

at 6.5psi, i was making 466 and 475. The boost gauge only showed 4-5 psi tonight and for the last couple of days. Not sure if I have a leak somewhere...I'll have to test that out this weekend or next.

well, you gotta think if someones skeptical of turbos, then STS's probably seem ridiculous.

I use to get the same **** about my STS car until everyone seen what it could do against some 600+whp cars

Good race you guys.
