Well let me say I think this is worth reading. I haven't had a run lately at all and have been kinda bummed about it. Well I'm going home tonight about 30 mins ago and I'm about to get off of my exit and all of the sudden out of no where a yellow Corvette flys past me and hits the brakes. I'm thinking he wants to race. So I go past my exit and get next to him. At this point I have seen the big exhaust and "Z06" exhaust plate that he had. So I'm thinking this will be a good chance to see where my car stands. I get along side him to see silver hair and the guy wont look over. Damn I think, he isn't going to race. Well I paced him for alittle bit and then he kicks it catching me off guard. He let out and I finally caught up to him about half a mile later since I kept it in 5th. I get along side him again and he will not look over. There is alot of traffic ahead of us but it is about 1/2 a mile or more away so I am thinking this is my chance. The guy still wont look over but I drop it down into 4th beside him. Give him about 5 seconds to know I'm wanting to go. I wait for the honk but never get it. **** it, I downshift into 3rd and punch it. A split second later he punches it at my back wheel. I hold him off in 3rd and slam 4th gear and he starts walking past me. By 140mph he had about 1 1/2 carlengths on me. At this point traffic in his lane is coming up VERY fast. Traffic is clear in my lane and I didn't know if he knew he could come over or not so I slam the brakes because he wasn't and flash my lights at him to let him know I'm letting out. He shoots over into my lane (outside fast lane) and drifts over the solid line he was going so fast (150+). I see him touch the concrete wall with his wheels what looked like because I saw sparks and I know you couldn't have put a coke can between his car and the divider wall. He then regained control and got back into his lane and I started to speed up because I wanted to get next to him and throw a thumbs up. I see him shoot over to the next exit and I'm thinking even better, I can maybe get him at a redlight and tell him sweet ride instead of just a thumbs up. Well I follow him and as soon as he got off the exit he shot a U turn to get back on the insterstate to go back the other way. I look over and give him a thumbs up out the window and he still didn't look over. What a ****. Well atleast he didn't wreck his car. I don't think I did bad for a 124k mile 5.0 with AFR165s and a box stock Edelbrock Performer intake with stock 3.08 gears. Too bad I wasn't able to spray him with the nitrous.

Oh, this was not a C6 it was a C5.

Nice write-up.Dont you hate cruisin for days,and not a race to be had?Its been dead as hell round here lately.That race would have been a good dig race too.

Not really, I've only got 275 radials on and the car blows them off in 1st and completely through 2nd. With 3.08 gears! I can't wait to get the 3.73s in Monday and see how traction is.

I'd also like to redo the highway race with me having the 3.73s in and not the stock gears. I wonder if that might have helped me out. ??

You sure it wasn't a Z24? A stock Z06 is a beast on the highway. I know it takes a modded 03+ Cobra to pull a stock 02+ Z06 expecially on a roll.....good kill though!

I totally understand now...Im savin for my 9"(i have about 1K so far)and i want it with 3.73.Im going from 2.73,Not even cool at all on the freeway.Are those just your street tires and you run slicks or drs at the track?

Also what year is your 5.0?They are pretty light for what alot of people dont know.I dont really see any bs here IMO.

Oh I feel you on the gears. My car feels like a slug with the stock gears. No all my cars before have been set up for drag racing so I decided to make this car handle real good. Its got road race suspension on it and street tires. So I can't go with non stiff sidewall tires. But I do have a set of slicks I COULD put on it but choose not to at the track. I kinda like seeing what it will run in street trim.

Well on the street anything can happen, but we have raced so many different combo Mustangs its not even funny with our Z06 and its not even close. Im sure you can drive your car better than he could. My Cobra at 490whp could not pull our Z06 at 371whp, and we even ran another Cobra with a ported blower, exhaust and tune just to make sure and the Z06 pulled that one too. We also ran a friends 98 Cobra with all the bolt ons + cams and 100 shot and pulled him pretty good. Again im not doubting the story but I think he should have pulled you pretty good.

He might have had the right idea getting out of there though. Some of the trafic he passed while blasting up the wall could have called the cops. I would'nt have stuck around myself. I sure would have given thumbs though!
