Suprised a Z06

Suprised a Z06
I have had this car (1990 turbocharged SHO) with the new setup (62-1, new fuel system, new tuning software) on the road for almost three months now, and until yesterday I have not had one decent street encounter. Granted, I don't drive this car nearly as much as I did the last turbo SHO I owned, and now that I am married and respsonsible and stuff, I don't go looking for trouble. But I digress.
Yesterday, on my way to do some automotive work, I see the telltale lights of a Corvette. C5 for sure, silver, and it appeared to be a FRC (perhaps a Z06??) Once I get closer, I verify that it is the venerable Z06!! My pulse quickens, my grip tightens around the steering wheel. California car, he was cruising around 75mph, but I accelerate and pass him quickly, just to see if he pays any notice. Once I get ahead a few buslengths, I slow. That got his attention. I am now traveling about 70mph, and see him coming up on my driver side. He stayed there for a few seconds, perhaps to look over the car. When he was about 1-1 1/2 cars back, he hits it. I was ready. 3rd gear, overtake boost engaged (for about 15psi). As soon as his nose is equal to mine, I smash the pedal to the floorboard. He has almost a length on me when I start gaining. Before I top out third I have overtaken, and in no time at all I am into 4th and lengths ahead. I forgot what a rush it was. First time back, and with my favorite nemisis, the Z06!! He stays back for a while, and very slowly passes me. As he does, he looks over smiling, and throws a friendly wave as I give a big thumbs up.

Thanks guys. Yes, it was for sure a Z06. Were I to guess guys, I would say that he was only in 4th when he tried to zoom by me. Picture this, you are cruising along in your 405hp badass Vette, 6th gear, 80mph, when a buzzy-loud grandma car goes by you @ 90 then slows. You check it out and decide to show him what a 'real' performance car can do. You could shift down to 3rd to get the most out of your setup, but why, it's only a Taurus, no need to work my engine. So you shift to 4th, thinking you can still easily handle this old 4-door. That would be my guess.
Much like when I raced a GTP the other day. This guy came buzzing around me, obviously interested in running. Sounded stock to me. We were doing 40 or so, I dropped to 3rd (from 4th), even though 2nd would have been a lot faster, and I left boost set to minimal (8-9psi), even though at the push of a button I could have had 15+psi. But why would I go to all that trouble for what appeared to be a stock GTP? I could easily hand him a loss with my car in 3rd at low boost (which is what I did). So I would guess that Z06 did not drop all the way to 3rd. If he had, I would have still beat him no doubt, but it would have been a little closer for sure.
As far as my setup, looks like someone posted pics. Not much to tell about the engine, as it is stock save for low-CR forged pistons. 62-1 turbonetics @ 14psi makes 390whp on 91octane. Makes a lot more with more octane/boost.
While some may say that 390whp in a Taurus is not enough to dispatch a C5Z06, consider this. My c/d is very similar to a Vette, gearing is nearly identical (though I have more rpm avaliable to me), and assuming he was stock, my power to weight ratio was better (9.3/1 vs 9.4/1). And some of you may remember my post about the standing mile race I competed in. My car was faster than every stock Vette there, 2 of which were C6Z06's. Suffice it to say, this car moves pretty good at speed.

I remember.
Curious to the weight of your car.
